Around SBN: Leandro Damiao Is Still Really Good

Validation ...

Bruin scrape out a fugly win against the second worst team in the Pac-10.  AP report is out and here is the box score.

So the only validation we have up to this point of our football season is that Karl Dorrell is still a **&^% of **** football coach:

Nothing has changed really. Nothing yet. Let's continue the open thread.

Meet the new Dorrell ..
Same as the old Dorrell.  I wonder what those idiotic Dorrell supporters who were celebrating that loss to SUC as some sort of "moral victory" will have to say about this game? Does this game taste like a loss?

I guess, I will take a win any way or shape. But alarm bells should go off. This defense hasn't improved, neither has our OL.  DO still looked physically mediocre in the first half, before finally getting some bearing in the second half. This was a pathetic performance on all accounts, and I can imagine Teford et al. must be licking their chops.  They may be lighting us up at the Rose Bowl.  Dorrell still sucks. He did a horrible job of getting this team ready.  Asshole.

Idiotic arguments again ...
No one here is rooting for the Bruins to lose.  We are just frustrated with the ugly and inconsistent football we are seeing year in and year out from this football program. This was exactly like last year when we followed great games against Oregon (a shitty football team BTW) on the road, with a decent performance against SC, and a ugly one against Wyoming. There is no consistency in how this team comes out. And being young excuse will simply not cut it any more.

Uhm ...
You obviously don't follow UCLA football as closely, day to day as we do.  The validation was just a light-hearted reference to DG's silly comments after the OU game, when he proclaimed that single win had validated KD's tenure at UCLA.

Then go find a blindo site ...
and keep worshipping Karl Dorrell, not Bruin football.  We have made the point more than enough times over here - our interest here is success of UCLA football (and basektball of course), not a specific head coach.  If the head coach is doing a shitty job, we are going to call him out.  If you don't like that, go somewhere else.  There are tons of places for blindos on the internets.

You've been warned
As a moderator, one thing I will not tolerate is flat out lying that questions the moderators' integrity.

If you continue this vicious Blindo lie that we want the team to lose, it will not be tolerated.

Additionally, I don't want this to turn into another hatefest message board of a war between the two sides.

So, if you must engage in namecalling such as "you have poopy pants," I really don't care.  But if you blatantly lie about me and my fellow moderators, I won't tolerate it.

I would prefer that you say, "you're wrong, and here's why."  But you and your fellow travelers have shown little inclination to engage in analytical thinking and analysis.  That is all.

If you'd care to read my latest front page post
you'll see that many germane topics are addressed beyond the length of Dorrell's tenure.  The fact that you are either unwilling or unable to read my post does not mean it does not exist.

Your point about "we can't criticize the coach now" has often been raised, unfortunately, it's usually raised before the season, in the middle of the season, after the SC game, after the bowl game, and during spring practice.

Regarding the rest of your post, many of these sorts of thoughts are, of course, addressed in my latest front page post.

Thoughtful comments are of course welcome in response to that post.  As are substantive and well-thought-out complaints or counterarguments.

Dorrell=Blah
The point is not that people are unhappy over a  UCLA win, but the fact that lately the Bruins have very often played way below their skill level.  A gutty loss against a clearly superior team, such as last year's Sc game, was satisfying to myself.  However these games have been few and far between.  I do not need to point out the numerous defeats at the hands of Stanford, WSU, Fresno St, Wyoming, etc.  People were worried over the exact type of lackluster effort and uninspired coaching that occurred last night.  This falls directly on KD's feet.  Complain about Carroll as a person or recruiter, but the guy pummels the weak teams and never seems to come out flat in big games.  ASU played the game of their lives and managed to lose by 10 at the end.  I have serious doubts that Dorrell will be able to win big on a consistent basis and I for one am sick and tired of UCLA being an afterthought on the CFB scene.

Better evaluate
what getting rid of Dorell is worth to you.

As a Notre Dame fan, I've/we've had to deal with 10 months of insinuations/implications and outright accusations of being racist/evil/dumb etc.

Even though Weis has done nothing but continue to validate Ty's ineptitude.

I can only imagine what the PR hit would be in the Southern California media market, which is considerably different than Rust Belt media.

Racism?
I don't think anyone is cutting less slack for KD because he is black, he simply is not ready to be a high Div. 1 coach yet.  If not for EB, I shutter to think how our recruiting would have been for the past 2 years.  The point of this year is that the opportunity is NOW, major talent will be leaving the program after this season and the replacement level is simply not there, except for BO.  Say what you want about Weis and ND and how they handled the firing of Willingham, but from my perspective things definitely look like a big upswing from last year.
