The one thing that really scares me about next season is KD's West Coast offense. Granted, when operated properly and in full form, the offense is unstoppable no matter how good the defense is. The down side is that the offense is so complex to understand that it's very hard for the players to execute. It took Drew Olson nearly three years to comprehend the system. Ben Olson will only have three years as well to learn the West Coast offense. The big question next year is: are we going back to Year 1 or are we continuing on to Year 4? Not many coaches employ the West Coast offense because it's too much for the players and by the time they fully comprehend the system, they will have graduated. The West Coast offense works very well in the NFL because players stay on the same team for years on end. In college, you have four years of eligibility and that's it. So for those whining about our 9-2 season, this may be our best season for years to come. The scenario would be KD goes 6-6 next year and gets fired and the new coach will need two years minimum to build the kind of system he thinks will succeed. So really, we may not have another 9 win season until 2009. God help us!
