ESPN 710 Lays Into Dorrell

For anyone who was listening to ESPN AM 710 here in LA yesterday around 3 pm, you would have heard Steve Mason and John Ireland (UCLA alum) absolutely eviscerating Dorrell into millions of tiny little pieces. They just absolutely laid into him, calling him, to the best of my recollection, "incompetent", "over his head", and "a mistake from the beginning." After all this, they compared Dorrell to the other coaches who were fired (concluding he is even worse than they are) and pointed out a lot of the galling record that he has accumulated that is quite often referenced on here. And then they proceeded to ponder as to why it seems that our Athletic Department has basically given up on football to focus our efforts and resources solely on basketball. Finally, they challenged Dorrell backers to call in and change their minds, but no one could do so reasonably.

It was a breath of fresh air from the usual crap on sports radio around here, especially AM 570 and the Loose Cannons, who have degenerated into a caricature of themselves from the Wrndell/Hartman days when the show was actually about sports  every once in a while and not just extended Lakers pregame with some BS about Vic's poncho on the side.

Glad to see some LA media are getting it about Dorrell and talking about it.

This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of BruinsNation's (BN) editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of BN's editors.

710...
I can never bring myself to listen to 710. It is after all, the "Trojan" station. Combine that with Colin Cowherd in the mornings and it's enough to make me listen to Simers and Roggin. >_<

i've never like cowherd and don't listen to trojan
games but i've always liked mason and ireland. i don't listen to sports talk radio much but when i do in the afternoon's it'll usually be mason and ireland. they don't try to pound you over the head with information like cowherd and aren't constantly yelling either. i like them and joe mcdonnell on 570 and it seems they're also the only ones who make sense when it comes to dullard.

Mason and Ireland is the only sports show in LA
that I can listen to. 570 is pure crap all around. Usually my dial is tuned to KFI or KROQ anyway, so I'm insulated from the madness. I had just had it with the mindless drivel on the airwaves around here and just switched to talk radio and music instead, easier to deal with.

KROQ
I used to have one of my radio stations set to World Famous just so I could hear the voice of  Tammy Heidi.

Ireland needs his Diploma taken away . . .
that S.O.B.

He's the biggest kiss ass on that network.  It makes me sick to think he is a Bruin Alum.  I'm not even an alum and I'D NEVER SPEW THE CRAP that comes out of his mouth.  Biggest Pete Carroll kiss ass there, except for maybe DeMarco Farr.  he's just an SC kiss ass.  And I know it's the SC station, but still, give me a friggin' break.

Cowherd has become an SC kiss ass as well, but I can put up with him, he's ok.

Satellite Radio
I save my sanity by not listening to all that drivel. Don't have a long drive to work, but I have a lot of stations to choose from along with the music being commercial free.

It's a life saver when I drive 3.5 hrs to Bruin home games.

Most of the good sports information is found here on the BN. The statistics & points of view to back up arguments are usually excellent.

DC area
All we get on the sports radio is all Redskins, all the time.  Aside from Mike & Mike in the morning, who are always worth listening to.
