Around SBN: Cal RB Jahvid Best Seriously Injured, Carted Off Field

You know your football team is a joke when:

  1.  Your head coach's "best team yet" gets referred to as "mediocre" and as a "creampuff" in the national media; and also needs a miracle just to qualify for a meaningless bowl game.
  2.  Positive articles about your head coach have nothing to do with his coaching abilities.
  3.  The best win of the season is against an average Mountain West team, and the best win against a major conference team is 4-5 (soon to be 4-7) Arizona.
  4.  Some fans are thrilled when your coaches choke away a game against an overrated opponent because you were expected to get blown out.
  5.  Your head coach thanks the other team for ripping your heart out.
  6.  Your head coach quits on the players in close games.
  7.  It takes SEVEN poor offensive performances in a row for your head coach to finally get involved in the offense.
  8.  Your head coach's apologists call your latest beating another "moral victory".
  9.  The media calls your head coach a "thinker", even though after four years he still doesn't understand the basics to time management, halftime adjustments, and not burning your timeouts in the third quarter.
  10.  The only time your team gets mentioned on SportsCenter is after they had the privilege to lose to a top-25 team.

When your stupidass caoch
starts Pat Cowan over Ben Olson.

When this season is over I don't think Dorrell will be able to use the whole we lost our starting quarterback excuse. Ben is healthy now but we still aren't playing him. Dorrell deserves to be fired just for this. Don't recruit a 5 star prospect if you aren't even gonna play him. Let him go somewhere where he can actally play and progress as a player. This whole QB situation is pissing me off.

KD is a freakin moron.

...Your Team's a Joke When...
  1. Your Fans and Alum spend more time trashing their current coach than they do grooming a replacement.
  2. Your "All-American" QB posts worse stats than his backup -- and you STILL want him back.
Here's to being truly LOST in '06.

GO BRUINS.

Just a friendly warning.  We will not tolerate personal attacks on the moderators.  If you have something of substance to say, please feel free, but if you resort to the kind of petty attacks in the comment I just deleted again, you'll be gone.

Cowan vs Olson Starting
If Olson was healthy, you would have a good point.
He hasn't played in weeks - and didn't look very good except in the 1st game, when they were playing us to run.  Second game, we lost, and he didn't play well.  Cowan hasn't lost a single game.  Our down lineman continue to.  A motion penalty cost a 3 against Notre Dame...
I am frustrated because we had such a fortunate season last year with all those great comebacks...
but we are a young team making young mistakes...
You want animated coaching... Arizona's Stoops is a jackass on the sideline... what is their record?
Give KD another year... and be prepared to say you were wrong....

Bruindave
we aren't that young - almost all starters are upperclassmen.  And I do know that most of those are juniors.

Nowhere in my top 10 did I mention anything about him looking like a deer in the headlights and not being animated.  Nice job taking the exception (Stoops) and making it seem like the rule.  It is possible to work the refs and show emotion to fire your team without being a jackass.

Also, I was prepared this year to say that I was wrong when I called last year a fluke.  KD has proved me, and others, to be correct.  Not firing KD after this season is like throwing good money after bad money.

we lost the second game?
we did?
and Cowan hasn't lost a single game? he didn't? So we didn't drop the last 4 straight games? Whew, what a relief.

What the hell are you talking about?

Looks like posters from other boards
are making their way here. Not a bad thing necessarily as guys like this make our case stronger and easier.  The only facts he uses are incorrect.  The rest of his argument is emotional.  Makes our job easier.

It's always "give him another year" with these guys.  They will always find some excuse ..  "a penalty against so and so," and a "young player make mistakes," etc. etc.  4 years, millions of dollars in salary, and we dont have to hold our coach to a certain standard, at the minimum to do his job well.  Man, I wish I had KDs gig wtih these kinds of clowns evaluating my performance!!  Suck at your job, make millions, and never get fired.  Nice. (Note. Just don't forget Betty, the secretary in marketing, has a birthday coming up)

I truly hope for a great season, but if we dont have one we must dumpdorrell.com

If only all of us could be so lucky
I mean, I'm pretty sure I could run up a huge losing streak and fail to develop players and play right into the opposing coaches hands with my playcalling too. I don't think I would do as well on the recruiting front, so I will only demand 500K a year from the administration.

Two questions for Bruindave 777
What is our record?

Did you really, truly think we would win any of the last four games (including the ND game with a minute left?)

The answers to those questions are why KD has to go.  I was around starting with the Tommy Prothro era.  Things were different.  They were even different with Donahue.  Anyone remember his first game?  If I recall correctly (and I'm sure to be corrected if I get this wrong), his maiden voyage as head coach was an upset win over No. 1 Arizona State.  KD coaches to teach or make progress or whatever the cliche du jour is.  Successful coaches coach to win.  It's that simple.

This link says it all...
Your team is a joke when people post up stuff like this on Craig's List:

When . . .
your Koach has more support from fans of your rival school than he does from fans of your school.

You know your football program is a joke
when you start looking to next year's schedule hoping we don't have to play Rice on the road (they've been on a tear lately, seriously with their new HC). They're small enough where it's a home and home matchup, right? Wait, did we play them last year and finish the series already, I forgot. Let's just be glad we caught them when we did. They're looking scary.
