No Respect........again

In '95 we were the #1 team in the country and had the overall #1 seed in the tournament, and still got disrespected by all.

Everytime one of the "experts" was asked to pick their upset special, they would say UCLA, and repeat it after each round. When the team would get beat by us, the team's coach would have something to complain about as to why they lost the game and didn't get beat by us.

This team is getting the same treatment and I hope the end result will be like '95.

Go Bruins

Couldn't agree more
No one out there is willing to believe that UCLA is as good as they really are. This team has bought into the defensive scheme that Ben Howland preaches. They shut down offensive powerhouses like Gonzaga and Memphis to the extent that it looks as though the opponent's offense just falls apart. But it's the relentless defense that is causing these extended droughts where the Bruins either catch up with you or pull away and bury you.
They're about due to break out and have one of those 85 or 90 point games. I can't think of a better time to have one than this Saturday.

If we have 85 or 90 on Saturday...
it had better be an overtime game, or I think we probably lose.  I'm not sure why you are such a big proponent of going against what has gotten us to the Final Four ("let's play Fey and score 90!"), particularly when we've only scored 85 or more twice all season (Sac. St. and Arizona), but I think that would be an abysmal idea.

I think the idea is...
That our shooters will get hot and hit those jumpers that we keep missing, many of them good looks from our offensive set.  It is possible to hold our opponents down and still score relatively high.  Look at the second half of the Gonzaga game.  We score 44 to their 29.  If our guys can sustain that type of play for both halves then it's 80+ to 59-60.  We don't have to run and gun for that, or sacrifice our style of play in any way.  It's just hitting the shots, which we haven't done yet, (except when it was life or death).
