Sleepless in Brentwood (Coach Howland's preparations)

From Frank Burlison:

"Basically, I haven't slept much at all in the past two weeks," he said via cellular telephone as he pulled into the driveway of his Brentwood home, barely 20 hours after the Bruins had defeated Memphis, 50-45, in the Oakland Regional final to earn the program's first Final Four reservations since 1995, when the Jim Harrick-coached Bruins won the title in Seattle.

The sleep depravation is because he and his staff, since the Pac 10 Tournament in Los Angeles, have behaved like college students cramming for mid-term finals the next.

"We're watching (game) film every night," he said. "I didn't get to bed Friday morning until 5 (after his team had rallied to beat Gonzaga the night before). I haven't gone to sleep before 3 a.m. in I don't-know-how-long."

Coach Howland is an animal. He is an animal. GO Bruins.
