I was watching ESPN U's pac 10 season preview show and one of the commentators said, "I don't know how much of a home field adavntage UCLA really has. I have been there for plenty of games and I assure you I have never been intimidated." Sadly, I must agree with his comments. I have never been to a UCLA game that wasn't against SUC where there was a real buzz around the stadium hours before kickoff and the place was filled at kickoff with lots of noise all game long. It is time for that to change. With the amount of people in the L.A. area, there is no reason why every single should not be a sell out and the Rose Bowl be a loud, intimidating place for visitors. I have seen road games at Washington, Washinton St., Oregon, Stanford, Cal, and Arizona St. and I must say that the Rose Bowl wa the quietest and least intimidating of them all. This season all of us need to change that. Don't give me excuses like, "if we had a competant coach it would change," or "if we won 9 games a year it would change" because there are plenty of schools out there that do not win yet their fans show up and cheer. Hell we didn't even sell out our supposed "coming out game" against Oklahoma. This year, PLEASE everyone go to the games, invite friends, do anything you can to pack the Rose Bowl and when your there, yell and scream and make noise until your throat is sore. It is time to change the notion that UCLA is an easy place to go into and play.
