Here is to another huge night for the best player in the Pac-10. Bruins are going to need another inspiring effort from AA and his team-mates to beat a great Pac-10 team on the road.
Tonight's game is on FSN Prime.
As mentioned earlier the tip-off is set for 5:00 pm PST. You can follow/track the game online via link in the official site.
This is our Ben Ball open game thread. Fire away.
GO BRUINS

I can't say I am really nervous about the game. I know we could lose, but don't really care if we do. What is most important to me is that we get experience against a big team with shot blockers. That will happen today, and it is a good thing for our team. Win or lose, we gain experience, and experience and learning will get us back to the title game.
All that said, I expect to win--It's Ben Howland, how can I expect any different.
Go Bruins!
First!
Two years later, when UCLA came back thanks to JaRon Rush (sad) and beat #1 Stanford at Maples, with that ass Billy Packer saying the game was over, I drove out to SFO to congratulate the team. This was when you could go thru security even if you weren't flying.
I found a flight going to LA, and sure enough, Lavs and the boys eventually show up. I introduced myself, mentioned our chocolate factory meeting two years ago, and asked if it was OK to thank the fellas. Sure, he said. All I remeber was Moiso was kind enough to take off his headphones.
Lavin could somehow coach those games, which made his coaching tenure so frustrating.
I was also going to school at Georgetown when UCLA came in and stopped its losing streak, meeting Ray Young on the street, and getting to mock GU students in their own student section. The life of a traveling alumnus, sorry about the long post, but the memories . . . and its late on Sun night. Go Bruins!
Glad for the 8pm start
Dad and I are in front of the big screen
Come on Bruins -- win this one for Dad!!!

Thanks to all who have put them in his thoughts
He taught at the sc music school for more than 30 years -- but has always been a Bruin fan -- much to the befuddlement of my brother who is a Stanford grad.

Impressed
Someone pointed out
I thought we might have trouble (I'm nervous about every game), but not because of the problem justsc has. I think we might have trouble because of a dreadful case of Lingering Lavinism which I haven't been able to shake. I haven't realized that the anti-Lavin sits at the end of our bench.

It's not over yet
We need to come out with the same intensity. And we can't be lollygagging around during our half court offense settling for jump shots.

No kidding
The trees are just as bad...
Yuck. This game isn't going to be going into the annals as the most fundamentally-sound ever played (thank you Stanford and your, what, 8 turnovers?).
to be fair to Stanford
Well...
You youngsters won't remember this
We beat them like a drum. Their tall guys were tall, but that was it.
I hope that's the way things go here.

The Only Way We Can Lose
Yes, the refs have a hard job but theoretically they are trained to call games consistently throughout the season and certainly during a particularly game. But it is the rare occasion that this happens.
Now, all this said, why the hell are we not getting the ball to Afflalo off screens more here in the 2nd?
Our Lineup is Being Set by the Ref's
I hate these refs

You Don't Have to Be Smart to Go to Stanford...
Unless you are a cheerleader, then you have to be butt ugly.
(sorry, couldn't resist these mean comments. i hate stanford even more than i hate SC. this is why i don't go to the games at maples. the fans are really obnoxious. the refs get intimidated. and often, it seems, so do our guys. it sucks!!!)

I was going to respond in the earlier post...
And yes, the possibility of a loss is my fault (or should we skip straight to the part where we blame Koach?), clearly. My most sincere apologies for having angered the great and powerful basketball gods.
Nestor I'm sorry for that comment

This is Unbelievable
come on bruins!
how come the media never covers pac-10 refs
and how crappy they are.
is it juust not crappy enough that there's nothing solid to write about or is it crappy enough to be writing about? somebody needs to get on this crappy ref crap.
Look at that free throw discrepancy
Almost as big as free throws -

Apparently it's my fault.
Alternatively, it could be because the +5 turnover and +1 free-throw margin in the first half became even on turnovers and -13 free-throws in the second-half. Possibly.
Though probably it's still me.

Just pulled up some stats
Ref's Killed Us
We had to play in deep foul trouble all game long.
Many were BS.
The refs converted our tough D into a liability.
We also had great shots that just didn't go down. We could have won at the end -- if we had gotten any good bounces. They got them tonight. We didn't. Shit.
All combined for a loss.
There is nothing good about losing. Nothing.
But, it is one game in a season.
Perfect post

Worst. Officiated. Game. Ever.
Still... while the NCAA investigates those cheats across town in the Bush-gate, they should investigate the Pac-10 refs for just being the worst officials in all of college sports.
