Now Is The Time

Okay Dan Guerrero, now is the time to grow some balls, admit the experiment is over and make a run at talented football coach who actually has a record of building up a powerhouse football program from scratch.  Greg Doyel at CBS Sportsline posted an article on Louisville (http://www.sportsline.com/collegefootball/story/9904129)
that suggests that Bobby Petrino may be available this off-season if all of his great junior players bolt.

If we have any chance of getting Petrino (which I freely admit is a HUGE long shot), we have to be proactive and get aggressive.  It starts by pulling the trigger and putting Old Yellow out of his misery.  The next step would be to go to the Wassermans of the world to fund the way-overpriced buyout of Dorrell's contract and put together a financial package to attract someone of Petrino's caliber.  Next, send the private plane (just like you did for Howland) for Petrino and let him know how much you want him.  In reality, we can't offer him $3 million a year, but we can offer him a job in the best part of the best city in the world.  He should be able to effectively recruit and having a shot at beating Cheatie Peetie in his own town should get a coach like Petrino ready to sign.

The time is now.  No more, "Let's give him one more year and see how he does!"  I am sick of that.  We have said that every year for the last 3 years.  Seize the moment, Mr. Guerrero, and make everyone in the UCLA community proud of you again.  You found the right basketball coach; now let's go out and find the right football coach.
