"We're #4!" Billboard idea gaining ground

Bumped from the diaries. GO BRUINS. -N

We at DD posted our ideas on the "We're #4!" campaign earlier this week that included many strategies, 4-finger foam fingers (coming next week), new tshirts, sending mail to DG, and potentially a Billboard if there was interest.  We checked into the Billboard idea and found that it would take about $11,000 for a billbooard in West LA near campus (rates fluctuate) for the minimum rental period of a month (12'x24', cost includes artwork, example below and here).  A month is a great amount of time and it would be a great show of strength.  The question is ... is there enough interest in contributing money for this idea.

Without our prompting, yesterday 3 Bruin football fans pledged $600. So Nestor wanted us to post the idea here at BruinsNation to gauge what kind of interest there was here.  We are not asking for donations right now, just a sense of interest in participating in some way.

Here is how it would work.  We would set up a PayPal donation button on our site and set up some kind of counter that everyone could see, along with a timeframe to reach the goal.  If we reach the goal in the timeframe then we go ahead with it.  If we dont, we give all the money back (which is easy to do with PayPal with a simple click of a button).  Obviously, we dont want to have a situation where we publicize this and only get $400 donated. That would be bad. So its important to gauge if this will work first. We could have a vote on what the billboard would actually say, but it would be something like:  "We're #4!" (in BIG lettering centered); "Thank you Dan Guerrero and Karl Dorrell for your Commitment To Mediocrity";  and then underneath  "DumpDorrell.com".  Maybe we could have a ribbon on the top right corner with the words "Sleep well" or a "Football 101" tag on the upper right corner (as with our header on DD).

Fire away with your thoughts ... and any pledges if you wish.
