Bruin Midnight Madness
Opinions wanted...
I just wanted to poll the group on here to see what your feelings are about the Bruins not having an open practice on what is traditionally Midnight Madness throughout the nation.
Coach Howland can never do anything wrong in my book, but in this case, I do think the students deserve to be a part of this college tradition.
We're having one once again here at Pepperdine, by the way.
Go Bruins!
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of BruinsNation's (BN) editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of BN's editors.

Not sure why...
I went in '95....
I know many think he's too truculent with the media, but he's a no nonsense kind of coach, and those recruits who come to UCLA now, know they're here to get better and play for championships - and it starts on Day 1. That's all rolled into one with Coach, and after the Lavin days, I'd have it no other way...

He-he! Just kidding!
But seriously, he is.

Ben Howland is a God
Midnight Madness practices are silly hype.
I say let CBH go to work as he sees fit.

It's a chance to show off for fans
Let's not forget that it isn't only for the mens team, but the womens team too usually. This is where I'd really push it if I were the Morgan Center. You can attract people to the event through mens basketball, but expose them to the womens team and get a few more fans interested in the women who don't draw well.

Let the various support groups
But Coach Howland is coaching. He wants to have his guys practice, not be involved in a press conference. If Coach Howland thinks it's more important to have a practice than a media event, I think he's earned the right to make the call
I think Kevin Love said it best...

Fools across town
Here's what Timmeh had to say to the crowd:
"We're going to try to kick those guys' (expletive) across town this year, too," Floyd said, referring to the rival Bruins.
Whatever.
Read the rest of it here if you want.

Nah - what for?
And I stand by my prediction that OJ2 won't suit up for the trOJans. Something will happen.
Notice He Said 'Try'

John Wooden Would Have Never Held Midnight Madness
That's one of the best parts
I don't care for Midnight Madness
The midnight thing was started by some of the Nike schools as a way to drum up hype and attention. We are UCLA Basketball. We play hard, we play disciplined, and we win championships.
except for football. I hope DG is listening.
