Women's Soccer Earns #1 Seed

The top ranked UCLA women's soccer team (16-1-2) earned a #1 seed in the 2007 NCAA women's soccer tournament. As a #1 seed, The Bruins will host the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th rounds of the 64 team tournament provided they don't lose. In the first round, the Bruins will host Cal State Fullerton at Drake Stadium on Friday at 5:30 pm PST. Should they win, they'll play on Sunday at 1:00 pm PST versus the winner of Friday's other game featuring Oklahoma St. and San Diego.

The Bruins haven't played Cal State Fullerton this season, but they did match up in last season's NCAA 2nd round where the Bruins took care of the Titans 3-1. Of their two possible 2nd round opponents, the Bruins only faced one this season, when they drew 0-0 after two overtimes In San Diedo against the Torreros.

The three other No. 1 seeds in the tournament are North Carolina, Stanford and Penn State. USC looked like they would earn one of the #1 seeds, however a loss in their season finale dropped them to a #2 seed and should they make it to the national semifinals, they will face off against the Bruins. While the 1st four rounds will take place on campuses across the country, the women's Colege Cup, which begins with the national semifinals, will be played in College Station, Texas. UCLA will be looking to make their 5th straight appearence in the women's College Cup, where they lost last season in the national semifinals to the eventual champion, North Carolina.

Tickets for the 1st and 2nd rounds is $9 for adults and $7 for children and adults. Let's get out there and support our Bruins this weekend and all tournament long!
