Osaar can run!?

You'd never know Osaar was at all athletic given the idiotic play calling of this incompetent staff.  How many times are we supposed to hear the Doofus tell us that he's going to have to shorten the play book for Osaar?

Dear Doofus,

Why are you SHORTENING the playbook?  You may not be able to make some of the 4 yard 3rd down passes you want, but just imagine all the possibilities that just opened.

What if... YOU RAN AN OPTION!!! OR A QB DRAW!!!?  what if... you utilized the talent you had on the field instead of trying to pidgeon hole every player into the same limited role you see as the ideal?

Thanks,
Dust

ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?  I honestly can't take this anymore... How, at UCLA, have we found someone this unimaginative?  We are a leader in the world of new and imaginative medical procedures, responsible for national nuclear laboratories, one of the worlds finest research universities, and the greatest athletic academic institution in country.  How are we expected to accept this kind of blind failure?

It is halftime as I write this, and we have the lead.  That said, I refuse to accept this as a victory even if that is the final result.  I feel sick.  All that can make this bearable is the hope that Dorrell will be gone in a week.  I am too proud a Bruin to accept this embarrassment as anything close to an appropriate display of our heritage.

And now, as I leave this blog, I find Dorrell once again throwing a player under the bus.  Osaar... You're done!  You failed!  You're out!

This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of BruinsNation's (BN) editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of BN's editors.

Bad football
That's all that game was.  Bad football.  We've had two weeks to get OR ready.  Our offense will NEVER be good with KD at the helm.  This mediocrity has got to end this year.

SUC is going to paste us.

The playcalling was terrible
but I think everyone saw what a lot of people saw from Rasshan in practice....he can't pass and can't be a D-1 quarterbacl.

you get the feeling
if dorrell had coached Dan Marino, he would have asked him to run like michael vick... Osaar will never be the stationary pocket passer, and will likely never complete 70% of his passes.  But he is an extraordinary athlete who is not being allowed to utilize his special skill set.

Play Calling Never Fits Talent
OR is not a drop back, long passer.

He's a roll out runner.

I truly don't understand many of the plays called with him in the game.

Exactly
Round peg meet square hole.

KD in a nutshell
tries to fit square peg into round hole, than blames peg for not executing

You left out a step
He gets the square peg, finds out what the square peg does well and eliminiates those plays, then tries to put the square peg into the round hole.

Conspiracy Theory
From the fishwrap regarding the preparation of Osaar for today's game:
"After getting a feel about what he knows and what he's comfortable with, we're going to tailor [the offense] for him," Coach Karl Dorrell said. "He likes be out on the move, doing certain things. No question about that."

Did today's offense look "tailored" for Osaar? It almost looked like Dorrell's whole intention was to ensure he could replace Osaar with Olson. That way, if Olson got injured, well, KD could say he was "forced" to make the switch.

Ok, it's a stretch, but I'm trying to generate any kind of interest in today's abortion of a football game.

It just all really sucks. We win today and get sUc one step closer to the Rose Bowl game. But if we win next week to prevent that scenario, we're probably stuck with CTS. I wish normalcy would return where we can enjoy every win and deplore every loss without reservation.

I had the exact thoughts going through my head when they flashed OR on the screen after announcing Olson was going to start.

Now I like Olson a lot as well. But I was absolutely disgusted at how they schemed the O with OR in first half. He was set up to fail. Dorrell is a f*cking clown.

Olsen
is the better QB... no doubt! he can make throws that no one else on the team is capable of.  I know I have a bias towards Osaar, but he deserves better than the treatment he has received at UCLA.  His circumstances alone warrant Doofus's dismissal, in my opinion.

How to make the perfect QB...
(1)  Olson's arm.

(2)  Cowan's head -- especially the eyes and brains -- and heart.

(3)  Osaar's everything else.

A few random thoughts on a "perfect QB"
  1. I'm not sure a "perfect QB" matters much in a broken offense.
  2. If Ben Olson had chosen to go elsewhere, he'd probably be kicking butt.  And we'd probably be talking about how "kick butt" our team could have been, too, if he had only gone to UCLA.
