"It is what it is"

I know that nobody here at Bruins Nation believes that BS about how this is year is turned around because we are still in the hunt for a Rose Bowl berth.

Well, it seems like the people that vote in the polls do not believe it either.

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/rankingsindex

UCLA is not in the top 25 of either poll, of course. However, if you look at the "Others Receiving votes", UCLA is not listed there either.

The AP's "other" are Arkansas 138, Texas Tech 119, Connecticut 41, Michigan 19, Air Force 19, Kentucky 13, UCF 11, Oregon State 5, Troy 3, Tulsa 1, Wake Forest 1, Penn State 1.

The USA Today's "other" are Texas Tech 116, South Florida 100, Connecticut 54, Air Force 31, Penn State 19, UCF 18, Michigan 17, Wake Forest 7, Rutgers 6, Mississippi State 4, Oklahoma State 4, Michigan State 3, TROY 3, Tulsa 2, Houston 2, Fresno State 1.

I realize polls are heavily weighted towards overall record but keep in mind Oregon was a top 10 team. Obviously the voters knew of that game because they dropped Oregon down. However, they clearly knew what a hollow victory that game was and not a single voter thought UCLA was worthy of the top 25 after that win.

Not a single one.

This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of BruinsNation's (BN) editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of BN's editors.

Don't forget
that after beating a then top-10 Cal team, a 5-2 UCLA was not a top-25 team.

Can anyboyd believe we could be ANOTHER first...
... an UNRANKED team making the Rose Bowl???

Somehow, someway, Toast keeps finding new ways to defy all known boundaries of football logic.

Actually...
The 1984 Rose Bowl between UCLA and Illinois had an unranked UCLA team backing in with a 6-4-1 record.  The ruins were unranked, but after taking apart the heavily favored Illini 45-9, they squeaked into the season ending poll.

I did not know that. Thanks.
Even so, it is still WEIRD as all get-out.

I know it won't happen, but
if we should happen to beat justsc (first thing that won't happen), I would like to see us decline the Rose Bowl bid (second thing that won't happen), and explain that we don't deserve to go there because we don't have a real coach (third thing that won't happen.)

Here's the only thing I think that could save KD
If he were to somehow beat SUC by 21 or more points, and dominate them throughout the game.

Other than that, he's gone.

How would this one scenario
fit into DG's "Body of Work (B.O.W.)" criteria?

Unless DG is just blowing hot air, once he mentioned B.O.W., he is setting the stage to boot KD outta here regardless of the SC game outcome.

B.O.W. is KD's worst enemy -- there is no way he passes such an evaluation.

It wouldn't
but I think it would be so shocking, that it would cause a reevaluation.

It's impossible, but I'm just saying, its the only thing I could see that could give him another year.

B.O.W. comment
Blue, I read DG's Body of Work comment exactly as you did.  DG will look at CTS's B.O.W. and either keep him or fire him.  He will keep him if he thinks the B.O.W. is acceptable, and if that happens, it means that we need a new athletic director.  I can't believe that an AD who was smart enough to let Coach Howland recruit himself into the job would be stupid enough to link his personal fortune to that of CTS.  If CTS is out, then DG can make a home run hire, and if he's not allowed to do that, he can point the finger of blame elsewhere.  Firing CTS is a no-lose for him.  Retaining CTS is a sure-fire lose for him.

You know what this means guys?
The voters are bunch of racists and not giving the Doofus a "fair shake" totally disrespecting his 6 wins. Bunch of racists.

can someone explain why..
the bruins would be in the rose bowl if we beat suc and arizona beats arizona state?

based on my calculations, if we beat suc, we'd be both 6-3 and asu would be 6-3 if they lost to arizona.

but since asu beat us, wouldn't they get to go to the rose bowl?

theres more to it
i believe we need oregon to be in the 4-way tie too so that in the overall head to head tie breakers, we would have tie with the most wins and then win the tie breaker with the one remaining team... kinda weird
Go Bruins!
