As a Bruin living in Hawaii, it's been interesting to see the June Jones situation develop. He loves it here in Hawaii and hasn't expressed interest in going elsewhere. Even more important, Warrior fans do NOT want him to leave. Boosters just raised $100,000 as a bonus for his performance this year. In a Honolulu Advertiser article this morning, Jones refutes a Daily News article saying he's been contacted by Dan Guerrero. Here's the link.
Here are some snippets of interest (someone please teach me how to block quotes):"The newspaper reported Friday that its sources said Jones 'is a candidate of interest for Bruins athletic director Dan Guerrero.'
Jones said yesterday: 'That's an absolute lie. That's all I've got to say.'"Don't know if this means Jones is completely out of the picture, but it sure looks like it. I think Jones would make an interesting candidate, but he's personally not my first choice for a new coach. It seems like some of our coaching candidates are more vocal about not being interested in the job. Petersen came out against it. Some have said Mooch and Leach's interest may be waning, and now this from Jones.
I know a lot of it is conjecture, but should we be a little concerned? I'm sure Jones is saying what he needs to say while still preparing for his bowl game. We're not exactly Michigan yet with two rejected offers, but with nothing but silence coming out of the AD's office, you can't help but wonder.
