Mata's HS Jersey Retired
What a great moment for a great Bruin!
South Gate HS, Lorenzo's alma mater, recently retired his high school basketball jersey. A great accomplishment for Lorenzo and I'm sure the whole South Gate community is very proud of him, just as the Bruin community is!
I love seeing Coach Howland there, as well. Not that I didn't expect him to be there, but I still loved to see it. In watching him or listening to him talk, you just know how much Coach Howland cares about his players and how badly he wants to see them succeed, both on and off the court.
Anyway, thought some of you would enjoy this video. It's about 7 minutes long. Hope no one has already posted it.
Congratulations, Lorenzo and GO BRUINS!
I need to write a bit more to hit the 200 word minimum, so here goes. I've been very pleased with Luc's play recently. He's been really active attacking the basket, and just looks so much more comfortable now that he is back to primarily playing the 4 spot. Even though it was ISU, Collison does look like he is getting back to full strength, and it was great to see Mike Roll hit a couple of 3's. He needs to hit some now to get his confidence back up to where it was before he got hurt.
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of BruinsNation's (BN) editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of BN's editors.

Just when you thought it couldn't get any better..
Now another one of his players, who has worked hard to contribute even when he has been supplanted by a superstar, is experiencing something on the college Richter scale that would be a quiet hiccup - having his jersey is being retired. So who has the consummate amount of class to show up and share the honor with one of his players? None other than Ben Howland.
Man, if there isn't a life lesson in how to be kind, considerate, and build a sense of team, I don't know what is. Ben and his guys are the greatest..
..if only a little of this would rub off on the football program!
