ESPN Grades Searches...

ESPN has an article grading the various coaching searches and hires that have taken place this off-season. For UCLA, the current grade is Incomplete, for obvious reasons. Thought it might be of interest to some people. There isn't any earth-shattering information in the article, but it provides a nice look into what has been going on in athletic departments around the country these past few weeks.

Here is the excerpt about the UCLA search

"The process: The Bruins are slowly moving along in their search for Karl Dorrell's replacement. Dorrell was fired after leading UCLA to a 35-27 record and a bowl game in each of his five seasons. Former USC offensive coordinator Norm Chow, now the offensive coordinator with the Tennessee Titans, appears to be one of the front-runners. So does former Washington and Colorado coach Rick Neuheisel, now offensive coordinator with the Baltimore Ravens. Philadelphia Eagles secondary coach John Harbaugh, brother of Stanford coach Jim Harbaugh, will interview for the UCLA job. Interim coach DeWayne Walker, the Bruins' interim coach, also has interviewed for the job.
Grade: Incomplete" Does anyone think we will have a coach before the Las Vegas Bowl? It seems unthinkable that we won't, but who knows at this point.

Also, will be at Pauley tonight for the slaughter of the Leathernecks. Will try and take some good pictures and post them afterward.

This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of BruinsNation's (BN) editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of BN's editors.

I'm thinking
DG is going to surprise us all.  I think it will be Bronco Mendenhall (spelling?) and the reason we haven't heard anything is because it would look bad to hire the coach of the team we are facing in a few days.  The last thing DG wants is bad press like Arkansas is getting.

Is this gospel
King James?  I sure hope so, it sounds like a very good scenario.

Incomplete
That's the only grade that could have been given. DG has not sat for the final exam. He could get an A or an F depending on how that final works out.

Time is on our Side
If he was going to make a bad hire, he would have done it already.

No reason to wait to hire Choker.

If he's waiting, he may be respecting the integrity of the bowl bound coaches by not interfering, publically, with their games.

Take your time Dan and do it right.

The game Saturday worries me a bit
If we somehow win in a convincing rout, I can see the rallying around Walker becoming much more intense. Especially if we pitch something like a 28-0 game.

Doesn't change a thing
If we are basing our hire on one game, then this entire process is a joke to begin with. It will get ugly for DG if he hires Walker, regardless of the outcome of the game.

I saw this too a few days ago
and the only thing I could think about was how we let Johnson slip away from our fingers. Of course he's an "A" hire. Look at the guy's track. In all fairness, considering he's got strong Georgia ties, I don't see how he would have chosen us over Georgia Tech. By no means am I demeaning UCLA. Some people just don't like the city life (Petersen) no matter how much of a pay upgrade it is.

DG, I've done all I can to voice my opinion wrt the coaching search. The rest is in your hands. Don't let us down. Get that "A" hire.
