Are there more candidates out there?

Many members of the BN community have astutely observed that the simplest explanation why DG hasn't made his decision is that he's not done with the process of collecting his prospects and arranging interviews.  As gobruins89 commented in an earlier front page post, Herm Edwards is still being mentioned in the New York Times.

But for the most part, things have been quiet.  But now Doh! relays the latest from the Walker PR committee, oops, I mean he "reports" that DG is not done with the interview process.  Apparently this has been confirmed by both DyNoMite and his brother.

We'll see.  I personally hope DG is taking his time, evaluating all his options, and will make the best decision at the end of the day.  Meanwhile, on a somewhat related note since the latest news will inevitably spur further rumors of "interest" in DyNoMite, Perelman notes that, contrary to the propaganda you read on some of the other sites, "Washington has no history of paying its assistants anywhere near the $300,000-plus that Walker is getting currently"

This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of BruinsNation's (BN) editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of BN's editors.

Walker and UW
UW might not have a history of paying assistants that much, but then neither did UCLA before this season. Keep in mind that Ty's contract only runs to '09, UW didn't extend it so there is no buy out past a single season. UW could be borrowing against those future savings if they wished.

There has to be more candidates
Because if there weren't, Dan Guerrero would've hired either Neuheisel or Walker already. Both would take the job if it were offered now or yesterday.

Absolutely
both are fall backs.

That is without a doubt. They want someone who is not currently available. I don't know who, but they are waiting on someone else.

Walker is not a fallback
That implies that he is an acceptable option. He is not. DumpDan.com and DumpDeWayne.com goes up 5 seconds after he announces that DW is the head coach.

I sure hope
Someone has those domain names bought up and ready to go.

What is interesting
and questions no one asking ... if DeWayne is such a hot commodity as a HC, how come a school like SMU is not coming after him hard?

Why haven't we heard his name in the mix for West Va position (a school that is mostly looking at coordinators)?

Why haven't we heard his name in the mix for LSU or Texas DC positions?

Anyone?

Could it be
that people who really know football aren't swayed by gushing orgasms by DyNoMite's press agent and brother?  Maybe they looked at the numbers and said that this super recruiter didn't bring in enough of his guys to take the team above 35th or so in defense.  Maybe they looked at the numbers and said this guy is 13-13 in two years.  Maybe they looked at the numbers and said, "Hmm - blow-outs by traditional powerhouses Utah and Wazzou, and blow-out by once-powerful, but now embarrassing FSU."

In other words, they looked at the facts and not the hype and said thanks but no thanks.

Believe me N
I've been asking myself that question for a while. I mean, why else would Walker feel the need to pimp himself through his brother and the local beat writers?

Glad you asked...
We want Erickson, Bellotti AND Carroll

An immodest proposal by the search firm that Dan Guerrero should've hired.

Mike Leach
UCLA, please come to your senses and go after Mike Leach HARD!  He's playing in a New Year's bowl game; one which he will most likely win.  The PAC-10 will be concerned he might say something about the terrible officiating in conference.  Not a bad thing, by my take.
