Center Court: Ben Ball (Oregon State) Open Thread

Since the main issue for this afternoon's game is our team's intensity, and since Dohn wrote about how Dragovic is feeling homesick, we thought it would be appropriate to feature this for today's open game thread:

Here's to our Bruins showing the same intensity they showed against Washington (and against Oregon), which allowed Dragovic, Wright and others to get plenty of action. If you need to get up to speed on the matchups, here is the game preview from BBR.

The game is on Prime. Tip-off is set for 2:30 pm PST. You can follow/track the game online via link in the official site.

This is our Ben Ball open game thread. You know what to do ... just fire away.

GO BRUINS.

First!
There's a new addition to the Bruin family out here in Boston.  A few weeks ago, my senior roommate (ah 508 Hill St in Ocean Park, why I did I leave you) / saxophonist in the UCLA band, married to a freshman tubist he met at the first 96-97 band party had a baby boy named Gus.

They also presented me with a sweet handband and we talked about the Homeboy and Boute shirt.  Anyone know if the Moute kicks Boute shirt is still available?  The link that comes up on Google takes me to a site but with no sales info. Thanks.

Looking forward to seeing the team on CBS next weekend v. WV.

Congrats
That is too awesome.

Anyone watching the UNC and the tOSU game?

UNC down at NCSU, while tOSU in a dog fight with MSU.

Also Oregon in a dogfight with Southern Cal.

shirts...
I was told there are few left when I ordered my daughters a couple of weeks ago. Check this link:

Moving on up
UNC loses.

Earlier in the week WI lost.

tOSU still in a tight game.

And Oregon just lost to Southern Cal.

Bruins need to take care of business now to get themselves in really great shape heading into next week.

And they are off to a great start up 20-7.

AA!~
God that was pretty!

Just turned the game on...
I notice we are up 35-15.  Let me get a cold drink and get comfortable...

Wait, wait!  That's not what I meant.....

Thanks
Thanks Nestor.  I also meant to say UCLA headband.  I was styling Jason Kapono-style around Beacon St.

That said, I'm trying to think which Lavin player would have kicked butt under Howland.  Someone way back mentioned Matt Barnes. Billy Knight? Jerome Moiso? Ray Young? Brandon Lloyd (just kidding.  But when he cried after the Princeton game, I cried with him.)?

by boston bruin on Feb 3, 2007 3:09 PM PST reply actions

Lavin players
Imagine what Howland would do with this?
  1. Baron Davis
  2. Earl Watson
  3. Jaron Rush
  4. Jerome Moiso
  5. Dan Gadzuric
Off the bench: Matt Barnes, Ray Young, Travis Reed, Billy Knight

Lavin should be banned from Westwood for not winning at least one Pac-10 title and a trip to Final-4 with that lineup.

Sickening.

The past is the past
Sure, it's not pretty to remember, but it's all over now, and it's only going to get better.

by bruinbabe2000 on Feb 3, 2007 3:14 PM PST up reply actions

You are right ...
absolutely right.

I have tried to forget Lavo as much as I can.

But then all on a sudden he comes on BSPN or then I watch a Dorrell "coach" ...

Ya know what I mean?

by Nestor on Feb 3, 2007 3:17 PM PST up reply actions

97-98 Minnesota cheated (in the classroom)
We had an 11 point lead in that game.  Lavin had some good tears after that game.  We are emotional school!  Though I have to say, I was a clueless idiot in the summer of 1995 when I worked at the Sproul desk and checked in Jelani McCoy, asking Lorenzo Romar if he was Jelani's father.

1993-94 / 1994-95
I lived on the arts floor, 4 North.  I was an Art History major, but was struck by everyone going ape-shit when "the Tony Awards" were on, I had no idea such a show existed.

by boston bruin on Feb 3, 2007 3:33 PM PST up reply actions

agreed
Coach was on radio pre-game talking about how important he is now, and will be in future.  Said he sees him as a point

How many Pac 10 teams...
...could Russell Westbrook start for?

But up THIRTY at half?

Can I say it?  PUHLEEZE?

by bbuclabruins on Feb 3, 2007 3:16 PM PST reply actions

Well,,,
I was about to say they are on pace to get everyone free burritos.

by bruinbabe2000 on Feb 3, 2007 3:17 PM PST up reply actions

When I went there...
...it was "Whopper!  Whopper!"...

Then it was a race to the corner of LeConte and Westwood as soon as the  scoreboard hit triple digits...

Where are the burritos from?

by bbuclabruins on Feb 3, 2007 3:22 PM PST up reply actions

Chipotle
It must be in Ackerman.  I only found out because they scored 96 against Washington and I was at that game.

OK...thanks for keeping me in line...
I shant say it.  I shant.

Billy Mack = Trojan Tool
Why is this gasbag doing our games?

"SC matching UCLA game for game"

A douchebag ... SuC has 6 losses. Moron.

by Nestor on Feb 3, 2007 3:21 PM PST reply actions

Game's not on in Tampa
Maybe that's not such a bad thing if the announcers are coming up with gems like justsc matching UCLA game for game.  He obviously didn't mean justsc is matching us win for win, and I believe there's a difference.

Is the Pauley crowd active, or is it another Dodger Stadium business?

by Fox 71 on Feb 3, 2007 3:28 PM PST up reply actions

Pauley crowd
Actually it looks pretty excited.

I don't think FSN broadcast from Pauley does any justice to our crowd. I heard our crowd was fairly deafening from those who attended the game last Thursday night. And they sure look fired up in this clip

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xkh-qckrf0U

That crowd was rocking.

And it looks active tonight.

by Nestor on Feb 3, 2007 3:34 PM PST up reply actions

I was thinking the same thing...
they must never turn the mic on the crowd.

by pocho on Feb 3, 2007 3:40 PM PST up reply actions

ucla clips on youtube
are there any steady youtube links to ucla games?  what usually comes up is the gonzaga game or the recent oregon loss.

by boston bruin on Feb 3, 2007 3:42 PM PST up reply actions

Agreed re: FSN
I went to the game Thursday, and the crowd was amazing.  Even the alumni were standing and rockin' the joint.  I watched the replay on FSN b/c I wanted to relive that atmosphere and was disappointed to find it very muted.

Collison's First Turnover
So now he has an assist-to-turnover ration of 7:1 instead of infinity:1.

61-20...
Now?  Now?  I'd like to take this stick out of my butt...

by bbuclabruins on Feb 3, 2007 3:41 PM PST reply actions

I don't want to crowd Nestor's territory, but ...
you NEVER tell a pitcher he's got a no-hitter while the game is on.  And unless you're Chick Hearn, I don't think you get to talk about jello jigglin'.

by Fox 71 on Feb 3, 2007 3:45 PM PST up reply actions

I miss Chick
Chick would have put this in the refrigerator about a half hour ago.

by insomniacslounge on Feb 3, 2007 3:46 PM PST up reply actions

Chick is buried in Culver City
I visit him because my grandparents and great grandmother are at the same cemetery.

Me and my fat mouth...
Gosh...I just can't learn.  The lead has evaporated to 36 points...

To be serious, I'd like to see Keefe grab some boards here...and instead of wimping out, TAKE THAT CHARGE!

by bbuclabruins on Feb 3, 2007 3:47 PM PST up reply actions

I was away ...
uh yeah I can say you can let out now!

by Nestor on Feb 3, 2007 4:12 PM PST up reply actions

Drago...
Yeah, I know he can shoot...but he looks RAW.  He is going to have to play some D and handle the ball better to get any serious playing time while here...

by bbuclabruins on Feb 3, 2007 4:02 PM PST reply actions

You are right
but I think he looks promising.

I like how he is going up for the rebound, and playing defense.

He is definitely learning something.

Roll has to get those mid range shots in.

Love our Bruins!

Only 35 points by an opponent at Pauley.

Way to go, BRUINS!!!!!!!!!
