HBO Special: The UCLA Dynasty
Nation,
Talk about timely television. As we get pumped up for our second straight Final Four (and the dawn of a new dyansty in UCLA basketball), HBO will be airing a special on Coach Wooden's amazing run in creating the first one.
Here's the info, right from the website:
"While the Vietnam War, the Civil Rights movement and political scandal were consuming the nation, a basketball legacy grew in southern California. Led by coach John Wooden, the UCLA Bruins amassed an unprecedented ten NCAA titles in the 12 seasons from 1964-1975, setting a standard of excellence and consistency in a volatile country.
Capturing the spirit of the era through the comments of former team members, students, commentators and coach Wooden himself, along with archival footage, THE UCLA DYNASTY sheds light on the advent of the college basketball craze. The UCLA juggernaut triggered unprecedented national interest in the sport and the NCAA tournament grew at a pace never before seen.
The 96-year-old Wooden heads a high-profile list of interviewees that includes players Bill Walton, Lucius Allen, Henry Bibby and Elvin Hayes; sports executive Eddie Einhorn; sportscaster Dick Enberg; and actor and former UCLA football star Mark Harmon, as well as other former students, professors, coaches and observers of the sport."

I've only seen the previews (obviously), but it looks like another great HBO program. It's good to know while some egotistical jackasses in the MSM are putting out hit pieces on our coach (I'm talking to you Mr. Dodd), at least one maintstream network is giving our basketball tradition some great publicity.

PS: I still can't believe I'm not at 250 words. While I have some space, I guess I'd like to point out that Bill Raftery might be the most annoying announcer in the world. I feel embarassed FOR him when he blurts out his weird sayings. Hopefully I'm at the word limit now.
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of BruinsNation's (BN) editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of BN's editors.
