Former Bruins kick Maverick Butt

If you have been following the NBA first round playoff series, you know that former bruin Baron Davis is on fire. He is playing his best basketball of his career and has led the Golden State Warriors in taking a 3-1 series lead. One more win will eliminate the Mavericks from the playoffs. The team also features former bruin Matt Barnes who has also been surprising everyone with his performance all year. Could you imagine what kind of teams we could have had here in Westwood if we had a decent coach who would have utilized the ability and basketball talent of someone like Baron Davis? Instead we had a gas bag like Steve Lavin who squandered Davis' potential and had the team play pickup style street ball. Imagine Ben Howland having a player like Baron  at the point. Wow!
I am hoping for golden state to advance to second round and then go on to win the NBA championship. That will certainly put the spotlight on our former bruins and UCLA as a result. Baron Davis has the potential to be one of the greatest NBA players. Unfortunately he has been plaqued by multiple injuries in his career.
Let's put the whole Bruin Nation Karma behind them
now that college basketball season is over.  Go bruins, go Baron Davis.

As a Warriors fan
I am very grateful for Baron and Matt right now.  People can no longer laugh at me for wearing my Warriors hat (bring back the retros pls.  orange is hideous).  I'm especially proud of BD as he is an alum of the school where I now teach.

GO WARRIORS
GO BRUINS

If I think Mark Cuban is a "Richard"
then I guess I'm rooting for Golden State.  But I have to say that the last time I recall looking at their unis, they had a streetcar on them and I think they said "city."

Now those of you old enough to remember "Dragnet" know that Frisco is not "the city."  Los Angeles is the City, and Jack Webb says so.  Every show opened with "This is the City, Los Angeles, California ...."  And Jack Webb is a pretty authoritative source.

just the warriors throwback jerseys
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_City
"In one notable instance, such pride manifested itself in "The City" being emblazoned on the uniforms of the San Francisco Warriors professional basketball team, from 1962 to 1971."

They wear them a lot
I think those jerseys were vote best ever in some magazine or something.

Uh oh.
When I saw them, they weren't "throwback."  I really didn't think I was that old.  Oh well, the alternative is worse.

Golden State
No offense to any warrior fans, but they are a bunch of losers.  Which is why I have no problem with them winning.  The Lakers on the other hand...

Golden state
they are losers, but not with Baron Davis leading the charge.

Not sure how that's an insult
Warriors (mis)management has been awful until this season. I don't think that's really up for debate.

It wasn't until the hiring of Don Nelson and the 8-player trade that the Warriors got back on the right track.

Class of 2010. GO BRUINS!

It's just that...
People usually don't like being called losers

Barnes
While Baron Davis has deservidly been getting most of the press, Matt Barnes has been coming through at opportune moments throughout this series. Last night, draining a trey with 16 seconds remaining, giving the Warriors a 6-point lead, effectively finishing off the Mavs.

Barnes has been huge
Good for him too. He's in a contract year (http://www.hoopshype.com/salaries/golden_state.htm) and I could see a team giving him the mid level exception for a few years, which would be great so he can get some security and build his career somewhere. Hopefully for the Warriors, it'll be in Golden State.

Interesting article on Yahoo
from Steve Kerr

"All I was saying was that there may not be any person in the world who possesses the same physical gifts that Davis does. In terms of speed, strength, agility and quickness, I can't think of any athlete who would top Davis. Certainly not Tiger or Federer, I know that."

Crap
I'm not a Warriors fan but I am now (especially with Baron and Matt vs. Cuban).  Unfortunately, GS choked last night.  They had Dallas on the ropes.  And Barnes' one handed running slam dunk was AWESOME.

If they play that well at home, they will still knock Dallas out.

Go Warriors!

It's interesting
how both games they lost Stephen Jackson and Baron Davis both were fouled out or ejected.  That would suggest that the Warriors are actually the better team.  Hopefully they can finish Dallas off.

except
that in both games Jackson's ejections came after things were decided.  Baron's questionable 6th foul probably hurt, but clanking 3's and the inability to score out of the set offens was equally crucial.

Have a feeling this one's going 7, but they have continuously surprised me all year so who knows.

Done. Golden State in 6
Baron (20, 10 reb, 6 ast) and Barnes (16, 11 reb, 7 ast) both had double-doubles, Baron after having suffered a hamstring injury in the 1st quarter. Matt Barnes did so in making his first start of the series.

Very simple
Golden State absolutely does not win this series (against the "best" team in the league, and the team favored to win it all) without the help of two Bruins.

GO BRUIN WARRIORS.

Don Nelson Is Good
It must really suck to be a Maverick fan today. Ever wondered how to hurt a billionaire? Mark Cuban must feel like a loser on two levels today: 1. As a fan 2. As a competitive businessman he's never failed like this before.

Was in SF Thursday
I watched Game 6 at a bar in the Mission district, it was kind of neat being in the winning "city". I wanted to buy a jersey or t-shirt for my buddy who's a Warriors fan but they were all out!

Cuban did this to himself. He got arrogant and ruined a great thing. That's because he's not a Bruin.

There are so many Bruin wannabees
Cuban is one.  Most grads from justsc.  (I wonder how many kids just go there for a while until they get tired of living away from the estate, then leave and just say they've graduated.  I sure that many in the great "trOJan family" would hate for that little allegation to be checked out.)  And many, many others.
