Baseball Extends Winning Streak to Six

Baseball team stays HOT beating the Huskies 6-5. Recap from the official site:

Backed by five runs in the first two innings, senior Tyson Brummett (5-4) led the UCLA baseball team past Washington, 6-5, Friday evening at Jackie Robinson Stadium. Brummett struck out six, walking just one, in 8 1/3 innings and junior Brant Rustich ended a ninth-inning Huskie rally to earn his fifth save.

The Bruins extended their win streak to a season-high six games and have started Pac-10 play with a 4-0 mark for the first time since 1979. Right fielder Gabe Cohen and designated hitter Cody Decker continued their torrid hitting, as each Bruin blasted a home run in the first inning. Cohen finished the evening 2-for-3 at the plate with one run, one RBI and one walk. Shortstop Brandon Crawford scored three runs, posting a 1-for-2 effort with his fifth home run and two walks.

UCLA (14-14, 4-0 Pac-10) used home runs by Cohen and Decker in the first inning to take a 3-0 lead. With shortstop Brandon Crawford aboard, Decker blasted his fourth home run in the last three games (team-leading sixth round-tripper). Right fielder Cohen followed with a solo home run to left.
