Around SBN: Notre Dame's Turnaround: How Have The Irish Done It?

My only question is this ... ?!?!?!

Is this program one iota better than it was on the day it got punked at Colorado in Dorrell's very first game?

After all the coaching changes, after all the recruiting of Dorrell's guys, after all the improvement in strength and conditioning, after the entire underbelly got fixed (that's a fucking huge LOL!!!) ... is UCLA one bit better than it was that sad day in Boulder?

Not on the field
But Dorrell has really cleaned up the program a lot.  He should be fired, no question, but at least the program is clean.

So clean
we have an x-criminal with no college coaching experience posing as a "coach" in our sideline.

The Campain Starts When We Lose
a Pac-10 game ... and then ... it will be blitzkrieg!!

This was an abomination ...

Why Wait?
Why sacrifice a conference game?

Do you really think there's any chance he will change in the next few weeks?

Now is the time. And, the campaign should be to replace KD, NOW!

No ... I know Dorrell will lose
but the effort has to have legitimacy from every angle ... we NEED it to work this year. Last year we got attention ... we got people to talk about it ... we got the media to latch onto the issues.  This year we need Guerrero to take action. Trust me when I tell you that our plans are designed to get attention but they need the legitimacy of a Pac-10 loss. As it stands now, Dorrell can still win the conference. After the 1st loss its over. Im asking that you trust us on this one.

That doesnt mean we will be quiet until the ... no ... we will make a noise. We are probably going to be on Fox radio this week and we are trying to get on ESPN as well.  Also, we are trying to get quoted in papers. Trust me, there is activity.  Any ideas you come up with will be helpful. Right now, we have to get back home to get things started. Signing off.

Thank You BruinCore
I hope that more Bruins get behind your efforts, I'm tired of all the Dorrell apologists and all those who say were aren't meant to be a football school.

T-Shirts
WE received alot of noteriety with the Dump Dorrell t-shirts last year.  Perhaps, this should be repeated and  "complimentary" shirts be sent throughout the media...

by Gary72 on Sep 15, 2007 8:09 PM PDT up reply actions

We have better shirts planned this year
that make the point loud and clear with humor to get attention.

And it wont just be shirts ...

No,no,no!
No offense. No defense. No discipline. No spirit. No preparation. No inspiration. No execution. No excuse. The reason: no coach. And still I hope.

I posted earlier in the week that if the Bruins
Bruins found a way to lose to Utah that KD should be fired.  Well they must have spend the entire week finding way too many ways to lose, and KD should actually be man enough to resign.

In my world DG gives KD the news in a text message and announces a search for a new coach on Monday.

no
i also wanted to point out that,as much as we hate usc, you have to respect the playcalling if you watched todays nebraska game. the coaches seem to have a long term vision in the game...setting up the pass with the run, stretching the field, making defensive adjustments, and being patient. i think thats the sort of thing we need from a coach.

Neuheisel
My vote is still for Rick Neuheisel as KD's replacement.

He has a proven track record as a college head coach and is a former Bruin QB.

Plus, I always thought his so-called character issues were overblown. Fired for betting in an NCAA Tournament pool? Please. It wasn't like he was running UW like Miami or USC.

He's still the QB coach for the Ravens, I think. Should be able to get him at a reasonable price.

Make the call, DG. Make the call.

by Quickhands on Sep 15, 2007 8:16 PM PDT reply actions

Please, no.
His pattern is troubling.  The first 2 years at any school, he does well.  The 2nd 2 years result in Dorrellian records, off-the-field disciplinary problems, and recruiting violations.  At that point, he then jumps to another job.

We need long-term quality, not quick-fix, feel-good stories of another alum coming home.

WHY NOT US? WHY NOT NOW?

by Meriones on Sep 16, 2007 7:50 AM PDT up reply actions

I don't know why Neuheisal is such a
popular candidate for coach.  Other than his problems with recruiting and gambling, IIRC he started off hot at Colorado and Washington in his first couple of seasons at both schools but his teams didn't do so well as he went on, and he had a relatively short coaching career, was it 8 seasons total?

I'd rather see UCLA try to get a seasoned head coach with a better coaching track record than RN.

by bruinhawk on Sep 15, 2007 8:23 PM PDT reply actions

To be honest...
I don't know a great deal about RN as a coach. I know that he is considered a very good offensive coach and he made UW into a national power.

But I'm trying to think realistically. UCLA is just NOT going to go out and spend $3 million a year on a big name coach. Much as we might wish it were so, it is never going to happen.

I think RN could come reasonably cheap because his reputation is a little tarnished and he has been out of head coaching for a year. But given his track record, I think UCLA could be getting a bargain in hiring RN.

Just my two cents...

by Quickhands on Sep 15, 2007 8:31 PM PDT up reply actions

Oops...
Out of head coaching for a while, not a year.

My bad.

by Quickhands on Sep 15, 2007 8:31 PM PDT up reply actions

Good point about the salary...maybe we can
get Appalachian State's coach.  You think he's making a $1 million or more where he is?:)

by bruinhawk on Sep 15, 2007 8:35 PM PDT reply actions

Why on earth would
App State's coach want to come to UCLA?  What would be the incentive?  He's sitting pretty where he is, and it seems unlikely that anyone would want to come in and try to clean up the mess Coach Toledo's successor has made.  There were very few people rushing to get on the Titanic that particular night.

Would enyone care to speculate as to
when Notre Dame wins its first game this season?  Anyone?  Anyone?  Bueller?

by Fox 71 on Sep 15, 2007 9:14 PM PDT reply actions

oh I don't know....
versus UCLA?????
Go Bruins, Go Howland, F-Lavin, and let's get rid of Dorrell....

by BruinManDan97 on Sep 15, 2007 11:09 PM PDT up reply actions

The answer,
of course, is "No."  I was at that Colorado game where our idiot coach "forgot" about Manuel
White on the sidelines.

That was our first major indication that he had no clue what he was doing.

By the way, for the delusional Romper Room/Fun Zone crowd, BYU LOST yesterday, so they are not the "world beaters" you thought they were.

BN has been right all along, and the Dorrellistas were wrong.

Time to eat crow, Dorrellistas.

Or do you still want Dorrell to remain as Coach for Life because you have some type of "agenda"?
