Cowan To Start Saturday

Ben Olson's concussion from repeated shots (including those in the 4th quarter down by 38 when he shouldn't have been in the game) Saturday has ruled him out of the Washington game as the headaches won't subside. This means Cowan will be under center against the Huskies.

According to Jill Painter:

"Patrick Cowan will start for UCLA on Saturday. Ben Olson didn't practice Wednesday and the Bruins aren't even sure if he'll practice tomorrow. If a player doesn't practice on Thursday, he can't play in the game on Saturday. And, Olson would have to exert himself and recover with no effects."

So Olson hasn't looked good so let's see how Cowan does. Maybe he can bring the 13-9 mojo with him to his next start? Let's hope because I haven't seen much else to give me optimism for Saturday.

This also presents another issue: if Olson is completely unavilable, Cowan is the starter and Bethel-Thompson the backup. Who's the 3rd/emergency QB? Everett's injured ankle means Rashan will be our 3rd reciever so it can't be him. Does that mean, in the unlikely situaton that our top 2 QB's get hurt we'll burn Forcier's redshirt year in a meaningless season? Knowing Dorrell...probably.

One more think to think about. This also presents a rather unique situation. The possibility of a brother to brother hook up. In a rather upsetting season, it'd be nice to see...especially if it can be for 6 points.
