Out w/ the WCO

After today's showing, I'm sure there's no doubt in anyone's mind about how horrendous the WCO is. As many people have said, we have the talent on our team to be good. Despite our crappy coaching, we might actually be a decent team if it weren't for our WCO. I think that was pretty evident in the game, well with all the penalties (and stuff like that). There's no reason why veteran players should be committing stupid penalties (especially not offsides penalties). However, Sleeping Beauty's WCO makes it difficult for our players to get the job done. It's much too complex for someone to perfect during a college career.

Look at who's been successful with those offenses? Pro veterans like Joe Montana, John Elway, Jerry Rice, Ed Mcafferey, Brad Johnson, etc. There's just no way you can expect a young player to pick up the WCO in an environment with limited practice time. Even Petros mentioned how Carson Palmer led the league in interceptions under Hackett's WCO. And what happened when the offense changed under Carrol? Palmer won a heisman trophy and a national championship.

I truly believe, despite our poor coaching, we can be a better team if we just get rid of the WCO, or at the very least dumb it down. I would have imagined that even the added coach would have heard about the K.I.S.S. principle (keep it simple stupid). In any case, the win is bittersweet. A bruin win is always nice, but it only prolongs Dorrell's stay here in Westwood. If he has any brains, he'll change his approach before he reaches the point of no return. On another note, I can't wait for Ben Ball season. Go Bruins!
