Kevin Love to be on Jim Rome Show 11 am PST

The Kevin Love victory parade takes to the national airwaves today...

Star-divide

Kevin Love is going to be interviewed on the nationally syndicated Jim Rome Show, sometime during its third hour, which is between 11 am and 12 noon, PST.  I'm going to be interested to hear what he has to say.  I know Rome isn't universally loved (sorry about the pun), but he's always been a big Ben Howland guy (Coach BH was on the show a couple of days ago) and he's had nothing but good things to say about KL.  In BH's interview, BH implied that he didn't expect KL to stay beyond this year, and I expect that Rome will ask Kevin about his future plans.

I think it's very cool that KL is already getting national run.  I still predict by the end of the year that Kevin will be a strong candidate for Player of the Year.

This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of BruinsNation's (BN) editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of BN's editors.

That's right, it's the radio show...
It's nationally syndicated so you can go to his website at jimrome.com to find out when and where it's on in our local market, or click on the link gdog009 graciously provided and listen on the internet.

Rome is a UCSB guy
IIRC, thus the initial affinity for Howland since CBH was an assistant to Pimm for a while. Rome is a tool a lot of the time, but when he lays off the schtick he asks good questions and usually gets a pretty good interview.

Agreed
I don't like Rome much, but he gets good guests and is a good interviewer. Besides that though, he's basically useless.

Rome is an entertainer
so if you don't take the schtick too seriously, he's pretty funny.  But he takes his interviews very seriously and they are usually very well done.

This is great
After KLove was done, Rome rambled on a 5 minute KLove + UCLA + BH lovefest.

KL gets an A for the interview
Great interview.  Rome is raving about KL.  He points out that KL is the only high school senior to have ever been interviewed on the show.

I'm not going to try to transcribe the interview but here are a few of my highlights.

My favorite quote -- KL said "Coach Wooden is the best coach in history in any sport."

Rome concludes at the end of the interview, "congratulations on your life."  "That's not like any 19 year old guy I've ever met in my life."  "That is an amazing interview."  "You know how much game he has, he can call Ben, 'Ben.'  I've known Coach Howland before he was Coach Howland and I still can't call him Ben."

Conclusion - Rome says he thinks the current team is better than the previous two that went to the Final Four because they have an inside presence.  And he loves KL.
