How can this be?

Yes we lost to SUC this weekend, but how is it that wazzu is ranked higher than us seeing as how we beat them? I scratch my head at this. And had it not been for that prayer 3 point bomb session at the end, it would have been a blowout. Yes, they have only one loss as apossed to our 2 losses, but we beat them heads up and should be ranked higher all things considering. Alas the sting of Saturdays game has been softened by the news that Norm Chow has most likely been hired as OC, but when I saw that USA Today poll, my blood pressure jumped right back up. And they also show us being 2nd in the PAC-10 behind wazuu once again??? What is wrong with this picture? We beat them heads up! How do they jump ahead of us in the PAC-10 when we are both 4-1 and we won the game against each other? I simply don't get it! It's like okay, you rank them higher in the top 25 if you want, but we beat them and have the same conference record! It's just a slap in the face if you ask me!

Just relax
We didn't take care of business against Souther Cal so we have taken a hit in the polls. We deserve the hit.

For now instead of worrying about polls we should worry about next game. And Oregon is going to present some matchup problems for us particularly if play like did last Sat.

Polls are the last thing our team needs to worry about.

GO BRUINS.

Indeed
Yeah, you are right. A little venting felt good though  :)

It's basketball, polls don't matter
I will complain about the polls all the time in football, since they're part of the BCS formula.

But in basketball, they're just for fun. The NCAA selection committee doesn't look at the polls at the end of the year, they essentially make their own.

Very True
Nestor is right too because Oregon is going to be a tough game as always. Going to be nice to have Luc back for these 2 games though.

I think its good we got bumped down
not having consequences for a bad performance would lead to complacency.

Top rankings have to be earned, and we did not earn it on Saturday.

But, we will. I still think we lose three conference games total, I am just disappointed one of them was to suc!

Rankings right now...
...don't mean a whole hell of alot.

Sure, its fun to banter back and forth with UNC and Duke about who's team is the best. Its not really that significant though.

I look at the L to Southern Cal as a minor, albeit painful roadbump to a #1 seed.

Agreed, but.....
I mean I know that the rankings in hoops don't mean very much as compared to football, and yes I agree we deserve to get bumped down for our loss, I just don't think wazzu should be ranked ahead of us considering we beat them. And for sure not ahead of us in the PAC-10. But I digress. Time to move on and get ready for a tough couple games in Oregon. :)
Go UCLA!

Look at it like this
UCLA is the highest ranked two loss team in the nation. I'm OK with that.

I haven't looked at the poll yet
and no one here is stating where we are, but if we're anywhere in the top 10, we are overrated (right now).

We did not perform like a top 10 team this weekend. We have lost TWICE on our home floor, no other top 20 team has done that.

There's plenty of season left to sort out what kind of team we are, and where we belong. We have no room right now (and it's pointless anyway) to be griping about our ranking. We just need to take care of business.

The oddsmakers
know what the real rankings are, and by their account, UCLA is right at the top.  The Bruins were favored by 13.5 over Texas and 11 over SuC. They were slightly favored to win it all coming into this year. This tells us two things:  those were bad losses, and if UCLA gets its act together, everything will work out.  In CBH, we trust.

WSU should be ranked higher right now.
Their sole loss was to a then-ranked #5 UCLA team. they took care of suc in an away game and lost one road game against a top-5 team. Do I think WSU is a better team than UCLA? No. But the current rankings, which like everyone says doesn't really matter in the end, make sense to me.
