Coach Neuheisel is keeping busy. From Painter:Daily News Player of the Year Milton Knox of Birmingham High of Lake Balboa, a running back, and teammate Donovan Carter, a linebacker, both met with new UCLA coach Rick Neuheisel on Saturday.
"He's a cool guy," said Knox, who, like Carter, has given a verbal
commitment to the Bruins but wavered after Karl Dorrell was fired. "I asked him what he thought about the incoming running backs, including myself, and he said, `If it ain't broke, don't fix it.' "
Carter also spoke well of Neuheisel.
"I was real impressed with how he talks," Carter said. "He was telling us how he was at the Rose Bowl watching USC play and said, `That's gonna be us in a few years.' He got me real pumped up."
Carter said because defensive coordinator DeWayne Walker is staying,he'll probably stick with the Bruins.
"My commitment is pretty solid right now," Carter said. "Keeping the defensive staff was key." Let those kids have some fun in their official visits. I can't blame kids for wanting to those take trips where they get a little pampering. But at the end I think they will end up being Bruins.
I don't see RN losing them to coaches like Willingham.
