UCLA Bruins at Oregon Ducks, Oct 11, 2008 7:15 PM PDT

Here we go. The wait is over for our Saturday game thread is finally over.

Anyway you look at it, Bruins are huge underdogs tonight against a talented and well coached Oregon Ducks teams in what is supposed to be one of the toughest and most intimidating venues in college football.

Still if the Bruins come out with focus and eliminate costly mistakes that have hurt them all season. Let's hope they can come out with aggression:

The kickoff time is scheduled for 7:15 pm PST on FSN. You can check out all of our notes on this game here.  As always you can click on the links below under "Related Item" for updated game stats and track the game via UCLA's official site and WWL's game page.

Let’s hope the boys in Blue come out and give us an inspired effort.  Time to get started with another game thread filled with our passion buckets.

GO BRUINS.

Unfortunately, no.

The FSN station up here in the Twin Cities is showing the Minnesota Wild tonight (they have a preaseason game). I’ll get the game on TV up here, but on a tape-delayed basis which sucks (11:00 P.M. Central time).

we need a FD here

ORegon will get the ball back since they have 3 TO’s…i’m fine with being down 7 but can’t get down by more

Bad clock management and weak D

we should not have given up that score.

sjh

by Class of 66 on Oct 11, 2008 8:46 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

contrary to what petros said

clock management had nothing to do with that… they had plenty of time on the clock…

"when you've seen how big the world is, how can you make due with this?"

by silverlakebruin on Oct 11, 2008 8:47 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

I think the mistake here was

Craft throwing it … instead of tucking it in on second down in that last series. That really killed us.

by Nestor on Oct 11, 2008 8:48 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

they would have just used their time out then.

they had 3, they used two on that series.

"when you've seen how big the world is, how can you make due with this?"

by silverlakebruin on Oct 11, 2008 8:49 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

yeah

ORegon never used the extra TO they ended up with. It wouldn’t have mattered

Bruin at heart

by bucknellbruin on Oct 11, 2008 8:50 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yeah

That’s a good point.

But Craft’s throw was very dangerous.

Austin

by uclafan11 on Oct 11, 2008 8:46 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

petros is a lying tool

it wasnt clock management that gave up the TD they still had a to, which they would have used, and the time on the clock would have been the same.

I have that we have to listen to that trojan motherf__ker

"when you've seen how big the world is, how can you make due with this?"

just like Tenessee

down by 14 at the half. we can do this.

Can someone please explain to me WHY we can't return the ball?

Austin seems to keep getting swarmed right as he catches the ball.

by eubruin on Oct 11, 2008 8:48 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

Masoli was killing us with his runs

and we let him do it to us with his arm?

by Telemachus on Oct 11, 2008 8:48 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

that was a hell of a throw

if he can do it, Craft should be able to…

19 carries

for 25 yards. 1.3 yards per rush. puts pressure on Craft

by Bruins095 on Oct 11, 2008 8:50 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

I still believe

They’re going to figure something out at halftime, score on their first drive.

Then the D takes over and keeps us in the game.

It can happen.

Was thinking the same thing when KB went down. Put him in.

by bruin95 on Oct 11, 2008 8:55 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

can someone explain to me how clock management played into this?

Oregon had three timeouts, Crafts incomplete pass saved them one, so they only used two on that series. Does anyone think they wouldn’t have scored then if they didn’t have a timeout to use in the final series? I don’t think it mattered

Just for the Record: Time of Possession

We have held the ball longer by about a minute and a half.

O is keeping the D off the field as best it can.

Wow

Didn’t realize that — thanks for pointing that out.

It certainly didn’t feel that way. All those Masoli runs were painful.

by gilbert on Oct 11, 2008 8:53 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

But outgained, 212-94

Ducks ran for 171 yards in the half; Massoli with 128 of those (to counter his 41 yards in the air)

by bruinhoo on Oct 11, 2008 8:55 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

they do have a lot of incompletions

those stop the clock…so they’ve probably had it longer but in terms of game time we’re slightly ahead
