You coached our Bruins far before my existance was even a remote possibility. Yet, despite that, your teachings and accomplishments continue to be a shining example to Bruins.

You may not give yourself the credit, but you and Jackie are not just the best UCLA has to offer; you and Jackie are two of the best the entire world has to offer.

I had the good fortune to hear coach speak during my time at UCLA. I share many anecdotes from that day, but today I’ll just share this little pearl of wisdom on parenting:

“The best thing you can do for your children is to simply love their mother.”

I have shared this advice with my brother and we will share it with our children. Profound in its simplicity, yet timeless in its impact. This quote will go on to inspire generations of Mirandas toward healthy and loving households. Thank you, coach. I’ll never forget it.
