Finally have $. Talk to me about Donations, Good Season Tickets
I looked over the athletic site and donations for mid sections 18 and 19 are 25K (yikes!) I want good season ticket seats, but I'm not sure how this works. Do they expect people to donate 25K every year to buy those season tickets (or $350, $850, $2500 whatever category you decide to join).
If that's the case, sounds terribly unreasonable. I realize the program will get better and the prices will climb, but even if I join the 5K donation group I'd be better off paying $450 per ticket in stub hub (this currently gets you sec 18, 19, and will prob get you mid sections 17 or 20 once the program improves.
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of BruinsNation's (BN) editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of BN's editors.

Supply and demand
Yes you do have to donate each year to be able to purchase preferred tickets. But since UCLA uses seniority in distribution of tickets you can lock in your location and donation level for year after year. I guess you have to decide whether or not you want to support StubHub and other scalpers or the University.

$350
You can get decent season tickets for a $350 “donation.” That is what I paid last year when I had season tickets and my seats were not bad at all, although I believe they were in section 17. So, it’s $350, plus whatever the seats cost. Parking was included and there were a couple of other perks.
Before you spring for a donation, you can get an idea from UCLA where your seats will be.

How many season ticket seats can you purchase with a donation?
Does the number of seats depend on the size of the donation?

I don't think so
I got 2 season tix for my one donation. I think the more important factor is the number of seats available that are together. Obviously, the more seats you want together (next to each other), the harder it will be to get good seats.

LOL - I know what you mean!
It’s my goal to get were you are now. Until then I go to one or two games a year and the occasional season ticket when it includes South Central at the Rose Bowl.

Call the Wooden Athletic Fund
To get all you questions answered and get moving on buying tickets it is best to call the Wooden Athletic Fund. They will give you the scoop on donation levels (and perks involved), available seating, parking etc… They are very friendly and helped me out a ton when I first got tickets a few years back. Brian Smith is the guy that I talk to and he is always helpful. The number is 310-206-3302
FWIW I was at the Select-A-Seat this past spring. From what I saw if you want to sit in the “Gold” sections (18-19) on the West side you needed to give a donation of $7,500-12,000 for any seats that weren’t at the very top or very bottom. To get tickets in the “blue” (17&20)sections donations were in the $3,500-5,000 range again for seats not at the very top or very bottom. If you are willing to take the sun there were more tickets available in the East Blue and Gold sections for lower donation levels and more blocks of seats together.

Its way better to give your money to the athletic department than a stubhub
This is one of those you take one for the school and get the best tickets you can reasonably afford.

Actually the amount donated does matter....
For a $350 donation you can get 2-4 tickets (don’t remember for sure). For $850 (Bruin Athletic Club) you can get 6. For $1700 you can get up to 8 tickets. I don’t know if it goes over 8, but at some point you are looking at a private box. Also the more you give gives you priority in picking up the open seats over other new season ticket purchasers.
