PB Unleashed: Washington Second Half Thread
CRN returns to his former stadium ...

... but so far it's a good night for his alma mater and current team.
Bruins are up by a score of 17-7 powered by the rushing of Derrick Coleman.
Kevin Craft and Derrick Coleman got our offense to a great start but then they stumbled around bit. At this point since we have a semblance of running attack going (94 yards in 24 carries), KC needs to focus on managing the game.
Meanwhile, we need our defense to tighten it up a little and FINISH STRONG.
Let's get it going in our second half thread.
GO BRUINS.

Good evening everyone
Glad to be joining what looks to be quite the party. I’ve been checking the score on my BB all night and it seems we are doing well.
I think Craft is only responsible for the second int
but he did fumble twice on top of that. He makes me nervous…

BO is "ready" behind him
I’d like to see us run up a lead and let BO play some.
Or, course there are lots of things I’d like …

exactly
hate to say that much of that is probably on their D and not so much on us, though DC appears to be a big step up.

We need to keep going with DC
hate to say it but I think we should use Bell now in relief efforts and go heavily with DC.
So, I am predicting 5 minutes into the half
someone will post about remaining on the first half thread and finally figuring out there was a second half thread after nobody responded to them…

He was a goalie in high school and was discovered because of his goal kicks… same idea really, no?

They play the same season as football though.

No more pocket passing for Crafty. He’s more effective on the roll.

saw you checked that Alter Bridge link yesterday. They aren’t from CO. 3 of them were in Creed, now have a new singer, and a trillion times better sound than Creed. Anyway, thought I’d throw that out when you were propping Pearl Jam. I thought Ten was brilliant, and AB reminds me some of that album – though AB is a more rock and less grunge. And that is Dr Drew. When can we expect a decent QB? 2010-2011?
Not talking about raw talent, but a QB that can deliver consistently.
That was discouraging.
Isn’t being a QB all about consistency… he may do well on most plays, but his mistakes are many and grave.
Do you think

Improvement
I’ve noticed some improvement this year at every position except the QB position. It is the most important position in college FB. Craft has had almost all the snaps this year. It takes at least 2 years for the QB to develop. I wonder if CRN and Coach Chow are set on him next year too. Otherwise, we need to develop a new QB next year, and the growing pains might continue for 2009-10

A little note for some folks
We don’t need lectures on how to run this community.
No more warnings from here on out.
Hmm
Usually, I’d never question Norm Chow. He is, afterall, Norm Chow. A coaching genius.
But, for some reason, he keeps calling these slant routes that Craft can’t seem to get.
Every single time, the kid is throwing behind the damn receiver, and it keeps coming back to bite us.
Thre is some good young talent at key positions
front line and QB situation will continue to be big issues heading into next year.
i'm excited for Kai Maiava

Doh! sometimes leaving us holding the bad.
Either way on Maiava, CRN knows our line needs help and he’s really working the JUCO OL circuit. It’s nice to see a head coach who is striving to improve the program by addressing needs, recognizing where his shortcomings were before, and working to fix it.
I'd love to see what Bell could do
if he was completely healthy and running behind a solid line.
Excellent drive
Burned up a ton of clock. Great mix of passes and runs. Now, punch it in.

Well It'll be a win, but what a sloppy win.
I look forward to the day we have top players playing at the top of their game. You know, consistency and all that.
Glad to see Rotstein found the bench
I don’t think Forbath is the solution, but I’m glad CRN has finally gotten tired of these garbage kicks from Rotstein
That was a well done drive
Even if we didn’t have the correct quarterback in the game.
How about a moratorium on calling for Craft to be pulled? Can we agree that Coach Neuheisel and Coach Chow have a slightly better take on who should be playing than anyone here has?
I understand
Where these guys are coming from. I’m not a fan of Craft, at all. His throws are behind on the slant, he shows poor decision making, etc.
But guys, here’s the problem: CRN and NC have looked at all of our QB options. Craft is the best option we have. He may not be a very good option, or an option we’re happy with, but it’s the best hand we have.
You’re not going to get dealt a straight or flush on every hand. Sometime you got to play the pair of 4’s and hope for the best.
Give it time and CRN and NC will have this program back on track, and, if NC is still around, maybe have a QB or two contending for the Heisman. Hell, those hacks Palmer and Leinart looked like gold under NC and we’ve seen them get tiotally exposed in the NFL.
But to say someone here is not allowed to criticize...
is akin to saying we shouldn’t have been allowed to call for KD’s firing because DG should know what he’s doing.
by Space_Monkey on Nov 15, 2008 9:49 PM PST up reply actions
There's a difference between fair criticism and beating a dead horse
Calling for Craft to be pulled time and time again is a waste of everyone’s time. Yes, the kid isn’t getting the job done, but we don’t have anyone better on the bench, or believe you me, CRN and NC would have that guy in the game.
The fact of the matter is, is that Craft is our QB, whether we like it or not. Criticize the guy’s poor decision making or tendency to throw it behind his receiver, but continuing to call for him being pulled is just a big a** waste of time.
Any bets on the Apple Cup?
Gracious these two Wash. schools are train-wreck bad
It’s either going to be a 5-3 snoozer or 63-60 wild one.

football in the state of Washington
is pretty ugly right now. wazzu I can understand, huskies have fallen further than I thought they would.
I hate to kick a guy when he's down
but as far as I can see, Willingham is currently the worst D-1 coach around. He hated to see the man in the empty suit leave UCLA because CTS was the only coach who had less of a clue. I think Washington will be back fairly quickly. I thought Barbara Hedges was as inept as both Willingham and CTS, and now that Ms. Hedges and Willingham (can’t call him Coach Willingham, sorry) are gone, they should do OK.

Not sure, but good question
If the NCAA gives him this year as a medical RS, then he’d have one year left, correct?
If they say no dice, then he’d be done.
i don't think so
he already used a medical redshirt, so i don’t think he would get another one
he would have to file an appeal and who knows if he’d win that

Way too much made of CRN's supposed "tantrums" directed at KC.
They don’t show every other coach yell at a kid or every other player that gets coached.
Could it be that some of the suckisity
has to do with our defense playing a nice game? Sure, Washington is bad, but we have our foot on their throat and we’re not letting up.

With the sound off, it's easy to reach Coach Neuheisel's lips
He just told Craft “You can’t do that” regarding his little flip toward the end zone, then he pantomimed the guy running it back for a TD.
think Big Ben will play this year?
or Crafty for the rest of the season. Crafty against SUC…………….yikes
Craft is what he is ...
A JC QB.
And if he is this mediocre … I am assuming Chow has concluded that Forcier is not JC material (or at least will never fit in our system).
If I were Forcier… I’d start looking at other schools if wanting to stick with football.
Agree with all that
If Craft sucks, then I have to believe that our best QB sucks. I have to believe that if there was a less sucky QB, he would be in there.

The defense played well for 3 quarters against UofA, Cal, and OSU, but the inept offense kept them on the field for too long in those games, and the dam eventually burst. I wish we had this defense in 1998.

high school
Do you guys ever get up here to Carmel? Our high school team creamed Pacific Grove today, in a rival match. Our QB can run circles around Craft…not kidding.

Quick question
Is Forcier pronounced with the r sound at the end?

I thought so too
Only reason I’m asking is because he was just pronounced with the r and it happened to pique my interest.

The old ball coach used to throw for the end zone in that situation
Trying to go from 47-3 to 54-3 in the last ten seconds against North East South Podunk.

Biggest Sign
This year that the coaching staff knows what they are doing:
We have not lost a game that we were supposed to win. While none of the victories have been spectacular this year, this stat jumps out at me the most. It means we’re getting ths most out of our kids, which is a good sign for the future.
Yep
I think we have a good chance against ASU in two weeks!

Absolutely true
And also absolutely late her. Good night all.
Not only that
But we also got a win against a team we were supposed to lose to (Tennessee).

Nice win
Still a fair share of mistakes, but at least we played a team that forgives mistakes. And in the end, we had a good run game, defense shut them down. We were supposed to win and we did. Well done.
