Coaching Staff's Experience: Notre Dame/UCLA
Notre Dame pulled off a hair raising win against Navy yesterday giving Weiss some much needed relief. Heading into yesterday's game there was a lot of pressure on Weiss.
To get a feel of what ND fans are going through I always make sure to check Blue Gray Sky, which might be one of my top-5 favorite sports blogs online. I enjoy the writing of Jay and his gang over at BGS. Anyway, after ND's shut out loss to BC, I found this really interesting post on BGS re. the experience of ND's coaching staff:
Notre Dame has the following on the sidelines:
* A defensive coordinator in his second year as a defensive coordinator.
* An offensive coordinator in his first year as an offensive coordinator.
* A head coach in only his fourth season as a head coach.
Putting aside every other issue for the moment (and there are plenty), Notre Dame should never ever again find itself in a position where the top three coaches for the football team have so little experience at their current position. Notre Dame football is not a place for on-the-job training.
Those numbers kind of put things in perspective for us. Doesn't it?
CRN is now in his 9th year as a college head coach. Last night he picked up his 70th win in a career which features 3 10/10+ win seasons.
Don't need to go over Chow's resume. Walker is in his 3rd year and I think might be putting together his best year as the UCLA defensive coordinator developing a young team.
I don't know about you but after reading that post I felt lot more at ease about where our football program is heading under CRN.
GO BRUINS.
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of BruinsNation's (BN) editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of BN's editors.

Walker
It will be interesting to see if he is still on our sidelines next year. I haven’t been seeing his name pop up too much lately regarding head coaching vacancies.

I have been a major critic of Coach Walker, but
there is no denying what the defense did last night. We weren’t playing a particularly good team, but that hasn’t stopped us from playing poorly in the past. Last night was different. The team played well. Maybe that excellent game will give these guys the confidence to realize that they’re good players and can win a game or two.
It also ought to give the guys confidence in Coach Walker. He had them ready to play. Good game, Coach Walker.

i think that
confidence is the biggest thing we got last night. No matter who we played, it had to have felt good for the O-Line to be able to bully people up front, and of course for the D to dominate. I’ve thought all along that we can beat ASU, but after that game I really think so. If KC can throw the ball to the guys in white, then i think we’ll win without too much trouble, to be honest. If he struggles again, though….who knows what will happen.
