FIU Video Highlights

(Good thing we have basketball to ease our pain)

No disrespect to Florida International University, but this was an expected opportunity to give our freshmen extended minutes. Jrue Holiday took advantage of this matchup to showcase why he was selected Gatorade Player of the Year. He was a perfect 8 of 8 from the field, and scored just over a point a minute, finishing with 20 points in 19 minutes on a variety of jumpers and drives to the hoop.

A couple of the other freshmen, Jerime Andersen and Malcolm showed glimpses of their potential, combining for 16 points; each logging nearly 20 minutes.

Like Jrue, junior Michael Roll was perfect from the field, going 4 for 4, including three 3-pointers and showed his ability to get the ball to the big guys underneath.

The only drama in the game was whether sophomore Spencer Soo would score, and score he did to put a nice exclamation point to the game draining a three with two seconds left in the game.

Yes, we all feel good about this win, but we need to forget about it and get back to work because next up is a top-ten team: Texas.
