Around SBN: Penn State Recruiting Roundup Is Set For A Big Junior Day

Kurt Streeter Attacks The UCLA Coaching Staff On Cue

Didn't waste any time to take this cheap shot towards current coaching staff (while subtely defending Dorrell):

Let's slow here for a moment and think about how this team is being led. A thought: I'm hoping for the best from Neuheisel and his staff, but I've seen nothing so far to make me feel that this year's team is being coached much better than it was in 2007, when most said the coaching was utterly atrocious.

I will not link to his piece and drive up traffic for his column's page.

You just have to wonder what this guy (a Cal Berkeley alum) would have written if he was around during Howland's first year.

Again dont' email him ... don't engage him ...don't give him that satisfaction.

If you are going to clown him, do so in the comment threads here. You can bet he is reading what we are writing here.

I really hate columnists who write without doing research

perhaps he should compare the rosters on both squads?

perhaps he should mention that the talent level is incredibly low DUE TO KDs INABILITY TO RECRUIT. CRN has not been able to bring in a recruiting class yet.

I really hate laziness and stupidity.

Here is how you know we are well coached

We are winning the games that we are supposed to win.

Mr. Streeter, let that resonate in your head for a second.

We are winning the game that we are supposed to win.

We have not lost to any inferior opponents. We have not gone into any games knowing that we should win and then not done so. What we have done is met expectations based on the talent level on our team. We have even beaten a team that is “better” than we are (Stanford). We know now that Tennessee obviously had too much preseason hype. In hindsight, that is a game that we should have won and we did.

What made the previous coaching staff unbearable was how many times we lost to teams that had no business being competitive with us. However, that was often overshadowed by the occasional marquee win over a team that was supposed to beat us (13-9 and Oklahoma).

Of course losing to OSU, whom we have historically owned in recent memory, is disappointing based on the recent beatdowns we have laid upon them. But truth be told, they are a good team with two solid QB’s and arguably the best back in the conference. They are currently one of only two teams in the conference that is in charge of their own destiny and has a legitimate shot to play on New Year’s Day.

So, in conclusion: Shut up Mr. Streeter.

Drum, you're not the "fool" -- Streeter Is

Great post.

We have to remember, Streeter isn’t a sports writer.

That’s why he cannot see all of the positive differences we see.

HOW DARE YOU, NEUHEISEL

Your team wasn’t favored to win, but damn it all, you should have won anyway! This team should be UNDEFEATED! Surely KD would have had this team on the cusp of the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP by now. Seriously, what the hell do the people that make money on betting on games for a living know? Streeter should put his money where his mouth is and open up a sports book. That way he can set every line to UCLA -10.5 because that’s evidently what he believes reality should be, and then he’ll wonder why he’s being taken for a ride.

It is sad and pathetic to see that local media has absolutely no sense of perspective or reality.

It's really simple

and sad, at the same time.

Kurt is still carrying the torch for KD. He will never admit this, but he wants to see CRN fail. He wants to show all of you—including me—that we were wrong and he was right.

Kurt is not razor sharp when it comes to sports, but overall, I do believe that he is an intelligent person. But I have to believe it’s something other than just lack of football smarts which causes him to ignore little things like, oh, these are all KD’s kids, by anyone’s measure this is a rebuilding year, we’re down to our third string QB in his first year at UCLA, our O line is decimated, etc, etc., etc.

Nevermind all that. KD was fired because he failed to perfom. CRN was supposed to outperform KD and, well, this team just flat sucks. So, that means that CRN sucks and KD shouldn’t have been fired (but then again, there was that whole race thing that Kurt reminded us about).

Kurt didn’t think KD should have been fired after 5 underperforming and underwhelming years. So why he is on CRN’s back (when these are all KD’s kids) after less that one full season?

Interesting.

Pete Carroll hates puppies.

Streeter's disconnect

His bio says he was a competitive tennis player. One of the marks of any sportsman is the drive to improve. Yet during his defense of CTS, one of his points (which I don’t agree with) was that CTS’s record was around .500, and that is where UCLA historically reached. So, you don’t try to get better, you are just content with the perceived status quo? What a chowder head…..

This Streeter Guy...

is described as a “general assignment reporter who writes about everyday people living uncommon lives.”

Well, I can see why that plus having been a “documentary filmmaker” and a “radio producer,” plus a “short stint in the minor leagues of professional tennis” qualifies him to comment upon football, and our football coaching staff. Plus, he has a cat named Pablo.

(I have three cats. Where do I sign up to be a football reporter for the LA Times?)

It's All About Selling Papers

We need to keep in mind that there is a need to stir up faux controversies so that people will continue to buy the fishwrap. Last year was particularly egregious when Streeter was trying to make Coach Dull’s firing a racial issue and Simers did a complete 180 and started defending Dull after bagging on him for years. Fairness and factual accuracy take a back seat to the need to get people talking about what is in the fishwrap so that they might actually plunk down some money to buy it or check out what’s going on at latimes.com. If Streeter had any integrity as a reporter, he would recognize that the football team’s downfall this year is a result of years of poor recruiting by his buddy Karl and that it is much too early to pass any sort of judgment on Neuheisel.

Agree

And that’s why I don’t go to those sites or blogs and I don’t engage in discussions with them.

People like Streeter and Duh need traffic. I won’t go there.

Just one question

The real question is not about what this ignorant person wrote about our football team and its coaches. The real question to Nestor is how he found it. Nestor, if you don’t stop reading the fishwrap you will go blind. The ‘wrap is just another form of porn, and you shouldn’t be looking at it.

So young man, you just apologize to the rest of the BN, and go your room. No computer for the rest of the evening. The punishment would have been worse, but you were good and didn’t link anything.

The solution to this is simple. JUST SAY NO. Don’t read the fishwrap or any of its blogs or electrical thingys. Don’t advertise in the fishwrap. This is the kind of thing that if enough people actually ignore it, then it actually will go away.
