USC To Revive Tradition, Wear Red On Saturday

USC will wear red against the Bruins on Saturday despite the fact that it is a road game, reviving a tradition of both UCLA and USC wearing home colors regardless of who is the home team. Doing so will violate NCAA rules and the Trojans will be charged with a timeout each half, but it's good to see the rivalry revived. Now I just can't wait to see the Bruins storm the Coliseum in blue next year.

I have a feeling...

They changed their minds because they’re such huge favorites this year.

No way!

I am sure the Humanitarian is making a classy gesture for the good of the game. He is always looking out for everyone’s interest because he is after all … a Humanitarian.

Don't care why they're doing it

I’m just glad to see this tradition to come back. I’m excited to see our Bruins in blue next year at the Masoleum!

EXACTLY!

I don’t know what being huge favorites has to do with it. But it’ll be awesome to see an “old school” game :-)

Break the Trojans!!!

interesting

I do not doubt that this is a good way to bring back old tradition, but I’d hate for the loss of those 2 timeouts in the game to become any sort of excuse for the trOJans (or extra “in-your-face” for the bruins). Can’t wait though…

GO BRUINS!!! CHEER LIKE CHAMPIONS!!!

Glad to have it back, but...

The only bad thing is the MSM will play this up as Uncle Petey’s ra-ra spirit and his love of tradition and how great he is to play forever yada yada yada. Then next year it will be portrayed as CRN trying to copy him even though we all know that it was a mutual agreement.

by bruinponcho on Dec 1, 2008 8:19 PM PST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

is the agreement on?

in which case, CRN will have to waste a timeout and decline the penalty, right?

Pete Carroll

was on the Gauntlet show tonight and talked about how they’ve been trying to do this for a long time now. He more or less insinuated that the decision would be up to UCLA for next year’s game and there was not necessarily any formal type of agreement to do this every year.

Beat the Trojans- please!

The only team I hate more than the UO Ducks are the Trojans. Please pull off the biggest upset of the season and send the arrogant spoiled children back to their part of town!!!

It is so painful to have to listen to their crap — it is bad enough the beavers have to listen to the ucks trash talk for the rest of this year. The Trojans lack class and are arrogant.

Stop them Saturday and salvage your season. Obviously I am motivated by the desire for my team to go to the Rose Bowl, but any time they are taken down a peg it makes me feel better (I was traumatized by a 63-3 drubbing they handed out many years ago).

Go Bruins—crush the Trojans!!!
