Future Bruin Baseball Player Trevor Bauer
Pitcher, who skipped his senior year of high school baseball to enroll at UCLA, still works out at Hart High while waiting to start life as a Bruin.
He made the decision to skip his senior year of high school baseball to enroll at UCLA.
"It's certainly a unique situation," UCLA Coach John Savage said. "We feel it's a little easier transition being a pitcher. We're going to be patient.
"We know he's very talented."
Bauer, a straight-A student who wants to be an engineer, recently took his final test at Hart, and come Jan. 5, he'll start classes at UCLA.
"I can't wait," Bauer said. "It's going to be a lot of fun."

Wow
I’ve never heard of this before in baseball. Rye, is Bauer going to get playing time this season — either as a starter or reliever?

This is rare in baseball
but beginning to become a little more common than it used to be. You used to never see this and now there’s usually 1 or 2 guys around the country who try it. Bauer has a chance to get some time as a reliever. He was still in high school in the fall so he missed fall practice. That leaves him a little bit behind the rest and because the coaches haven’t gotten a look at him versus college players yet, nobody is really sure how he’ll fare and how much he’ll see the mound this year. Once he gets some practice in we’ll have a better idea.

Yeah South Campus!
Just go to your (probable north campus) teammates parties and you’ll do okay.
