All Pac-10 Bruins
From the official site:
Senior punter Aaron Perez and sophomore defensive lineman Brian Price highlighted 11 Bruin student-athletes named to the 2008 All-Pacific-10 Conference Football Team. Both Perez (special teams) and Price (defense) were awarded first-team honors for their success on the field this season.
Six Bruins were named All-Pac-10 second-team as junior tight end Ryan Moya was the offensive honoree. Senior defensive lineman Brigham Harwell, junior linebacker Reggie Carter and junior cornerback Alterraun Verner were honored on the defense. Sophomore place kicker Kai Forbath and kick returner Terrence Austin were named second-team specialists.
Earning honorable mention all-conference honors were freshman linebacker Akeem Ayers, freshman free safety Rahim Moore and senior cornerback Michael Norris.
Congrats to all these Bruins for a great season.
Hopefully the ones who are coming back can take their performance to another level with more individual and team success next season.
GO BRUINS.

I would have put Brigham on the 1st team
and Price on the 2nd because I thought Brigham had a better year, but it’s a close call. Congrats to them all.

Forbath should be 1st team
The USC kicker was made 1st team, in spite of the fact that his FGs/game was 9th, and his kicking percentage was near the bottom as well. His longest kick was also 10 yards shorter than Forbath’s long.

were these teams made before last weekend?
b/c SC’s kicker was 8/9 on the year before last week. Sure thats not many attempts but 87.5% is solid. Plus at least 70% of his kickoffs are touchbacks. I still would take Forbath but if it was before last week i can see the argument

I Don't Get This
How could USC’s kicker be considered better than Kai Forbath, by any standard?

Progress
After the 2007 season, DW was being hyped for HC. In looking through the all conference team in 2007, there was no evidence of improvement in his defensive players in terms of all-conference selections.
This year has been a turnaround. Brian Price went from nowhere in 2007 (not even honorable mention) to 1st team. Brigham Harwell and Reggie Carter went from nowhere to 2nd team. ATV went from honorable mention to 2nd team. Michael Norris went from nowhere to honorable mention.
Theoretically, this could simply mean that the conference skill level decreased across the board. I like to think, however, that instead this represents a return by DW to basics in his teaching. The improvement of his players under trying circumstances is to be commended.

Michael Norris
I want to take a second to praise Michael Norris. At the start of the year, I have to say, I was pretty down on him getting lots of playing time, especially considering that I had in the back of mind the whole time that this was a rebuilding year. He just didn’t look very good and it seemed like he was always getting beat.
In the last several games however, he looked for like a new man. I can’t believe how much he improved. He played with enthusiasm, heart, and skill. That interception against SC was just an unbelievable cap for his season. For him to get All Pac 10 honorable mention after a Joe like me wondered whether or not a freshman like Courtney Viney should be getting time… well, that’s just spectacular. It says great things about Norris and great things about the coaches who had faith in him. He gets my vote for most improved player!

Not only that
but he’s a solid student too! I’m really proud of him.
But hey, what do I know. I’m just the 800 lbs bruin in the room.
