2 Future Bruins to McD's All-American Game

Bumped. Speaking of "young" ballers CONGRATS to Jrue and Malcolm. GO BRUINS. -N

Congrats to future Bruin Guards Jrue Holiday and Malcolm Lee. From BruinReportOnline.com:

Two of UCLA's signed recruits for 2008 -- Jrue Holiday of North Hollywood (Calif.) Campbell Hall and Malcolm Lee of Riverside (Calif.) North, have been named to the 2008 McDonald's All-American Game.

The game will be played on March 26th at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and televised by ESPN at 9:30 p.m. Here is the complete roster (warning: PDF file). North Carolina (3) and Ohio State (2) were the only other schools with more than one All-American.

UPDATE: Here is a little preview of Jrue:

And Malcolm:

Of course don't forget Drew Gordon and Jerime Anderson, the two other blue chippers who make up next year's number 1 recruiting class in America. GO BRUINS. -N

I'm surprised
that Lee got in. Usually they don't like having multiple players from the same area and if they do, they get them from different positions. I can't wait to see these guys in true blue and gold.

Drew Gordon
I think Drew Gordon may have been out of most of his senior year with a broken foot for a while. I don't know if he is back in the game yet, or not.

Gordon
Has a broken foot and, as Ollie said, is out for the season. Neither his coach up in San Jose nor Coach Howland were too concerned about the impact of the injury on next season.

In terms of Lee making the the McD's team, I think they just wanted to have two Bruins on the team given how well regarded the UCLA recruiting class is considered. Lee's the next best player in the class - and with the only player from another position injured - he was an easy choice.

Thanks for cleaning it up, Nestor. And thanks for the addition of the videos, always fun to check these kids out (especially Lee since he's less heralded).

Jrue is a Man-child
The opponent looked awful and Jrue looked bored.  I am sure he can't wait to move up to NCAA level, and beyond.

Larry Drew and UNC
I've just started following recruiting lately. Does anyone know if Howland went after him? He's from Taft and with Farmar making it big it seems like UCLA would have been a no-brainer, not like we need him anyways....what's the backstory?

My bad
Guess it's a different Taft....

Drew/Anderson
Howland offered both Drew and Anderson and was going to pick whoever committed first. Drew balked. Anderson jumped in. We got the better deal I think because Andersom IMO is more of a complete player who plays better defense.

Drew vs. Anderson
That's how I feel too. I'm very pleased to have Jerime Anderson. I believe that once Anderson committed, Drew become much more interested in UCLA but it was too late.

And Drew goes to the same Taft as Jordan Farmar went to.
