Thundering 'lights From The Lone Star State

I know this is March and its Madness time on BruinsNation but ... well you just have to watch this video.

Aundre Dean ... Running Back ... Katy Texas from Bobby Gerry on Vimeo.

So ... what was that again about UCLA just being a basketball school?

Thanks so much to a friend in Texas who emailed us that highlight package of Aundre Dean from the Lone Star state. If this doesn't get your passion bucket over flowing, not sure what will.

BTW don't forget while Dean is the thunder of this incoming recruiting class, we are also going to have a little bit of lightning in the backfield.

So thunder and lightning rocking and rolling under CRN/Chow at the Rose Bowl in couple of years (if not sooner).

GO BRUINS.

Aundre Dean Is a Great Kid
Aundre Dean has the character to be a Bruin.

To read about his life off the field, go here: http://www.texasfootball.com/index.php?s=&change_well_id=2&url_article_id=1167.

At a time when some schools recruit thugs, we continue to recruit young men with character.

Whoa there, padnuh..
I almost had heart failure when I read this:
He said it started with the form letters sent to many juniors. He didn't think the interest was serious. But by the end of his junior campaign, the interest had materialized into offers from Texas A&M, OSU and Nebraska.

When Dean committed to A&M nearly two weeks ago, it wasn't the culmination of a lifelong dream of becoming an Aggie. Growing up, Dean didn't follow college football.

"It kind of just came about," he said. "I was never a really fan of any college. I figured if I ever had the opportunity to play, I'd just go and make the most of it.

"If you get the opportunity, just take it and run with it and do the best you can."

His allegiances, of course, are now heavy with the Aggies. And he repeated over and again how hard he'll work before and once he gets to College Station.

..then I noted the 02/2007 date on the article.

But, still, Steve, you tring to add years to a guy who's already got too many of 'em?

God, it's great to be a Bruin!

Its gonna be a real treat to watch Aundre team up with Milton to pound it down the throats of the opposing teams in the years to come.

Agreed...
Not to take anything away from Dean, who I agree with Tinman, runs angry, but man some of the footage has him just needing to beat one man to get to paydirt. Some plays there's no one around him for 10 yards. Hopefully we can put him in those situations and not ones where he has to lower his shoulder and give a beating. Although that would be fun to watch too.

Peace.

What I liked seeing from that video...
is that Dean initiates contact and finishes off his runs.  He doesn't just fall to the ground or run out of bounds, he delivers a hit to his tackler and falls forward.  That reminds me a lot of MJD, and it will serve our football team well in the next few years.  I would totally love to see this kid earn some playing time next season.

I dont
know if the commenting on the thunder and lighting link (more football news and notes) was restricted...but my 2 cents to add to the discussion going on there is that the grade point average of our players in comparison to that of SUCs team is far less important to me than the kind of character and work ethic our players have.

I'd give up the instant gratification SC has had the last half decade in heartbeat.. if i knew we built our program back the right way, with the right players and right kind of people. Even if this means why don't achieve the same results and media hype.
