Bumped. GO BRUINS. - N
Preface: Interviews with Coach Howland and Kevin Love after the bracket selections were made. CBH doesn't seem to have a lot of concern about the injury to Love and thinks Luc could be ready by Saturday (not assuming anything about MVS). Just listening to Coach Howland makes you appreciate someone who's been there before and knows exactly what to do. Love talks a little about his injury, gives props to Collison and the rest of the team, and how he's enjoyed this year as a Bruin.
And now to get the juices flowing here are some thoughts (and videos) of Madness past. . .
The last time UCLA gained a #1 seed in the NCAA Tournament was 1995. Now, as then, UCLA isn't getting a lot of respect from the national (or the local Doh!) media. In 2006, we were a two-seed and got to the Championship game, albeit via some madness of our own, which I posted earlier today.
We were again a two-seed last year, but an impressive win against Kansas returned the Bruins to the Final Four once again. Check out the first and second half highlights from that game. While you admire Arron Afflalo's MOP performance, be sure to notice the contributions from players who are the core of this year's team.
Now that we have a #1 seed, what madness awaits? Will we have the 1995 experience and have One Shining Moment? There's a long road ahead and only time will tell.
The madness has officially begun!
