Thank goodness
I don't think I could have taken this all the way through!
just about done!
Big props to Keefe stepping up as well! As usual I didn't watch the full game but it's great to see these guys filling gaps. When you can win with such a bad performance from Collison you know you got something! Compare this to last year, where when Afflalo had a bad game (for example, against Florida in the FF), the air was sucked out of the team. So it's really great to see a victory here!
I'll take the win, obviously, you know, blowout wins are great against the #16 seed and all... but UNC is doing it against good teams like Arkansas and Washington State... if this team wants to reach its full potential it has to raise its game and fast. Xavier is a great team that Pomeroy has ranked #16... Texas A&M is #18.
With due respect to WSU
Then again I hate them with a passion. About as much as I hate Notre Dame, $UC and Duke.
fair question?
I'm looking forward to Louisville vs NC

His "better" is definitely faster than theirs.
Amazing performance by WKU
I'm sure the UCLA critics will be all over the near-collapse, but how many teams do you see lose their All-American point guard and have the next best option teeter with 4 fouls and still manage to win. Gutsy win, applause for both teams.
James Keefe
I would give it to Love.

Oh, man, there was THIRD thread?

Some observations
The Bruins didn't handle the press well, I'm sure CBH will be addressing that.
WKU, well done. A very solid game, never gave up. That is one well coached team.
Yeah
Regarding the refs...
But that's because
I haven't looked at the stats yet.
misleading
Box Score
FT: WKY 19/26, UCLA 26/35
couldn't watch here at work - just lived (and almost died) on the threads. but did the officiating seem that one-sided? the numbers don't really bear that out. or was it just really ticky-tack stuff?

This means...
Refs managed to cover the spread
Even since December - Roll's final blowout
Our ability to pull through w/o DC, and Shipp and Westy both playing w/4 for a significant period of time, against an opponent as driven (and good) as these guys were, and come out on top is such a relief.
Looks like the UCLA referee conspiracy theory is

Anyone else notice that we have been playing...
Mississippi Valley State
Texas A&M
Western Kentucky
and now
Xavier!
Too bad we can't play Youngstown State...
Lots of thoughts. I'll limit myself to 4
James Keefe! Guess he deserves that that playing time.
Others have made this point already, but I seem to remember people complaining that UCLA gets all the calls. Hmm...
Josh Shipp... Throughout his slump I have had a feeling that there would be a time that we would need him in the tournament, and I wondered if he would step up. Boy did he ever. Wow. He didn't score much today, but talk about picking your spots!

And in a bit of alumni karma...
Holy Crizikey
I had to stay out of the threads today, I jammed the ring finger on my left hand and it slowed my typing down significantly. At times I have to type one handed to avoid the pain.
But WOOOOOO no surrender on either side tonight, made it a little too close for comfort for us, and we need to work on the full court press, but MAN! JAMES FREAKING KEEFE! He became the man tonight! Shipp! HITTING THE TIMELY SHOT! And Kevin Love, all around spectacular. WOOOOOOO!
Goodnight All
we couldnt afford to put mata in
kevin was literally so huge in the way he distributed the ball....but wow we all struggled so much against that intense trap
Issues
Watch the game?
And one of the girls on the dance team
Why don't you save it at least for a day, Logan. There's all day tomorrow to explain how we stink so bad that we are only 34-3, and will be one of the last eight standing by Saturday.
Possibly a little too critical

They win by 41, it's just not fair, they win by 3, it's the refs, they win by 10, they're "inconsistent."
They still keep winning, though, don't they?
Good Grief.

with a comment like that
I'll say though we have to work on beating the press this weak though!
They controlled the tempo in 2nd half
Kudos to Keefe but...
Lets not forget Westy. Played huge in last few minutes and with four fouls. He made some nice shots in the first half that helped build a big lead that it turned out we needed.
Amazing that we praise everyone for the double doubles and even Keefe gets potg, all the while KLove is absolutely dominant, stays out of foul trouble, breaks the press, helps pace the tempo of the O, and anchors the middle of the D.
Bring on XU. Lets get to San Antonio!

So much for my prediction of a "stress-free" game.
Warning: Rooting for the Bruins in March can be hazardous to your health! There is no way around it.
Kudos to Keefe and Shipp for showing up tonight-they were huge. And as I will say from here on out: God bless you, Kevin Love!
No matter what happens from here on out, I am proud of this team. I am proud of this coach. It's been a great season.
Let's beat Xavier and see if we can keep the magic going!

Over-commercialized? Nah!
But, in a way, it helps us because CBH loves to burn timeouts and I guess he can count on the TV and the other coach's timeouts down the stretch.
