Memphis' win over UCLA is no surprise to Kansas' Rush

SAN ANTONIO -- It's Kansas against Memphis for the NCAA title on Monday, and Kansas players said they weren't surprised.

"I definitely expected this matchup because Memphis is a great school," guard Brandon Rush said. "They've got a great team. They get up and down the floor like North Carolina does and we do. Yeah, I definitely expected this, big-time."

Star-divide

This is coming from a player on a team we knocked out last year?  That "up and down the floor style" didn't work so well last year, did it?  All of a sudden I actually care about Monday's game.

This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of BruinsNation's (BN) editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of BN's editors.

Hmm...
I think you would expect a player to believe their type of offense is superior.

Maybe...
I'm reaching as to whether his comments were actually disparaging...today's just been a bad day.

Half the "experts"
picked Memphis and for the same reasons Rush said. We knew what they'd try to do and if you thought they'd win, you'd be saying exactly what Rush said. I don't see these comments as disparaging.

sad to say
But its a legitimate reason and we knew they'd play that way.

Looks like Kansas vs. Memphis is going to be an NBA-style game anyways

Of course he says that today...
Would you really expect him to say something otherwise? Kid is been around long enough to know better than to give any bulletin-board material

Yeah
I didn't see this comment as a knock on UCLA at all.

Exactly echo these sentiments
I know I personally and many other fans wish guys would stop giving "coach-speech" all the time and be real, but I suppose it's probably to the benefit of their teams that they just lavish their future opponents with praise and "of course we knew they'd win they're so good etc"

disparaging? I think so.
But, with victory comes the gloating. Reminds me of the Memphis guy pointing out KL on the floor after he got dunked on. I found it classless and refuse to believe any of our guys would ever do something like that. But, they were winning, feeling their oats, and there is nothing we can do but regroup and give it another go.

While we all know the MSM likes to second guess UCLA; from the ballplayer's perspective, I'm sure they would like to stick it to us out of spite. I mean, even I got tired of hearing how "they only hang championship banners at Pauley."

Makes me wonder if maybe we should hang conference championships and conference tournament banners up there. Maybe it would shut up the talking heads and lift some of the heavy expectations our boys feel they have to live up to.
