Norm Chow's Future with UCLA
Some of you may know that a large portion of Norm Chow's salary is being paid by the Tennessee Titans right now. He had two years left on his deal when the Titans fired him and so we have Norm Chow at a reasonable price. However, when the contract expires, Norm Chow is probably going to want the same amount of money he's been receiving, cost of living and expenses and all that.
Therefore, is it possible to start a fundraising venture now, so that we aren't scrambling later to try and keep Norm Chow?
We could send it as a donation to the UCLA athletic dept. on the condition that they use the money to re-sign Norm Chow. I don't know if it would work and by no means am I volunteering to spearhead this project. But maybe we could try and figure this out for the long-term success of the Bruins.
Peace

SLOW DOWN
there Rod … Who knows where we’ll be by the time Norm’s contract is up? If Neu & Co. do as well as I think they’re capable of, our Bruins will regularly compete for Pac – 10 championships and be in the mix every year for the National Championship. Should that be the case there should be at least ONE BCC Bowl in that time which will do wonders for the Athletic Department budget.
I think this is it for Norm
I think its well documented that Norm is a family first type of guy. He stayed at BYU for 20+ years so he wouldn’t have move his family around. When they finally got out of the house he decided to try the nomadic life of the coaching carousel and from what I have read he wasn’t a big fan of being away from his family and home living in a hotel. I have no reason to believe he will want to go that route in 3 years. Norm is a loyal guy who will stick around as long as he feels appreciated. CRN gets that. We won’t see CRN try to replace Norm with his god-son or getting visably jealous when Norm gets too much credit for the offense. I believe we will see Norm retire as a Bruin.
and...
I don’t think we will harbor any ill will if we see Norm stick around for a few rose bowl appearances, maybe a NC or two, and then take off for his own head coaching gig before retiring.
