Kareem Abdul-Jabbar speaks at UCLA. It's not exactly about sports but it's Kareem so I reckon it's ok. He's yet another person who just "gets" what UCLA is all about. (via UCLANewsroom) [Bumped. GO BRUINS. -N]

Awesome video!
It is always a pleasure to listen to Kareem. He is so well spoken, so articulate, and so thoughtful. He got kind of a bad rep during his days with the Lakers because he could be surly with the media. But his accomplishments on, and even more so, off the court, show what an outstanding person he really is. His ongoing loyalty to UCLA is a tribute to the school, to Coach Wooden, and to his own character – not a bad threesome. Way to go, Cap!
Thanks for posting this, irishbruin!

No problem guys
And that was very well said Greg. I really love the fact that UCLA basketball’s two greatest players are both articulate, well spoken and highly intellectual individuals, it says an awful lot about the school!

the Face of UCLA
Of course I’m not gonna say Coach isn’t, but Kareem is certainly the face of UCLA Alumni. He’s a UCLA graduate, the greatest college basketball player ever, the greatest NBA player ever, an accomplished writer, an accomplished historian, an accomplished speaker, a gracious person, and a big Bruin fan. He spends a lot of time on campus and for that reason is still felt as truly a part of UCLA as it is today.
Nothing but love. Go Bruins!

Wow...
I was there! I was off-stage while he was speaking, and came on right after with the UCLA Chinese Music Ensemble.
