Saturday Doubleheader: Softball (v Nevada) & Baseball (v WSU) Open Thread
Let's get right to it.
The softball team is taking on Nevada this afternoon at Easton starting at 3 pm PST. The game will be broadcast on ESPNU. If you don't have ESPNU, you can follow the game online via the official site .
The baseball team is taking on WSU earlier in the afternoon at Jackie Robinson starting at 1:30 pm PST. Soph. RHP Charles Brewer (7-4, 5.18) will be trying to win the series for Bruins against Cougar Senior southpaw Jayson Miller (7-1, 4.24). The game will be broadcast live on FSN. Again if you don't have FSN you can follow the game online via the official site as well.
Yesterday we featured the softball team in our open game thread and every one of our teams won. We are gonna stick the MOJO:

Also don't forget the women's tennis team in today's Elite Eight action against Arkansas. If anyone has a link which folks can use to follow them online, please post it in the comment section.
Let's bring it home boys and girls.
Fire away.
GO BRUINS.

Link for women's tennis
The host school has a website that has live stats and video. I haven’t tried the video yet, so I’m not sure if that works, but I know the live stats do.
The Video Works
The good news is they have cameras on every court. The bad news is the angles are poor and there is no sound, so it is difficult to tell what’s going on. It’s really not worth the trouble unless you are a way-stupid tennis junkie like me.
A couple disturbing numbers
629 (baseball) and 458 (softball). Those are the attendance numbers for yesterday. The baseball team is playing a huge series, their final home series of the season and the softball team is in regionals. Come on guys and girls…we can do better. Anyone in the SoCal area, find your way out to either Jackie Robinson Stadium or Easton Stadium this afternoon and support our Bruins.

That is pretty sad
the lakers and dodgers were on yesterday though, so I feel like that may have been a big reason for the low numbers. Maybe the attendance will pop back up today.
O.A.
Nice
Serving for the win on court 4. Its also encouraging to see Zalameda coming back against the #1 player in the country, after dropping the first set.
UCLA baseball beats WSU 7-6 in 10 innings!
They should televise every UCLA baseball game, because we’ve won every time our games have been on TV.
There it is
Remynse wins on court 4 to clinch the match 4-0.
Up next is the winner of Georgia Tech – Florida in the Final Four
Softball is in a little trouble.
Bruins down 4 to 3 in the bottom of the 6th. We had a rally killin double play in the top of the inning. Feisty Nevada team.
Still alive!!
Bruins just got a big double in the top of the 7th, with one out!!! Lets see if we can tie it up. Nevada just made a great catch. 2 outs. one out away and we’re in the losers bracket.
softball
Tie Game- Clutch 2 out single to make it 4-4
Extra Innings
4-4 going to 8th.
Just for curiosity, does anybody know why UCLA, which was the higher seed, wound up being the visitors for this game?
The regional is supposed to be neutral for all those involved. So one team cannot be home every game
Thanks for clarification
This explains why UCLA was the visiting team for this game. I am guessing (pure guess) that UCLA will be visiting team for game 1 today, and would be home team for game 2 if needed.
I can see where neutral makes sense for the non-seeds, but it does not seem all that much of a stretch to reward the higher seed for all games with home team status. The solution for the lower or non-seeds would be to win more games the following year, so that they could receive a similar reward for their more stellar regular season performance. Just a thought…
don't know
I was wondering the same thing…..we are the 2nd seed in the NATION and technically only Florida should be home over us
GO BRUINS!!! CHEER LIKE CHAMPIONS!!!
Grinder
Whoever loses this is likely to be burned out for tomorrow (have to win 3 in a row)
Pitching Change
UCLA has runners on the corners, 1 out, top of 9th
UCLA takes lead !!
5-4, still one out, runners at 1st and 2nd
AK is on a roll
2 HRs yesterday and now clutch hitting…..we will need this production to bring another championship home to westwood
GO BRUINS!!! CHEER LIKE CHAMPIONS!!!
tickets for tomorrow
Hey, I am a UCLA football and basketball season ticket holder who has never attended another sport. My daughter is 10 and playing softball and I thought it would be cool to take her to her first UCLA game tomorrow. How does it work as far as getting tickets? I don’t want to go all the way to Westwood (from the SF Valley) and not get tickets. Am I pretty much assured of getting tickets at the door if I go there? Or should I buy them in advance? Just curious. If anyone has any knowledge on what I should do, I’d appreciate it. Also, what are the game times tomorrow for the Bruins…........if they hold on.
Attendance this weekend
has been abysmal. We had 458 yesterday and there can’t be more than 700 today. Easton Stadium holds 1,300 so I don’t think you’re in any danger of not being able to get a ticket if you just show up tomorrow.

tickets
I know you can buy them at CTO, but i think that is closed on weekends
best chance would be to show up early and buy at gate
GO BRUINS!!! CHEER LIKE CHAMPIONS!!!
THAT WAS AWESOME
So proud of those girls. They just made our Sat afternoon. Great comeback!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Game Tomorrow
2:30pm vs ….
winner of the 1-1 record game tonight
GO BRUINS!!! CHEER LIKE CHAMPIONS!!!
game
Are the Bruins playing at 2:30? and is there only one game tomorrow?
We play at 2:30
against whoever wins tonight’s 8:00 pm game. If we win the 2:30 game then we are regional champs. If we lost the 2:30 gam, we’ll play another game afterwards.

fans
Also, what was the attendance like tonight?
one only if....
.....bruins win
if they lose, they will be force to play another game after the first since it is double elimination
GO BRUINS!!! CHEER LIKE CHAMPIONS!!!
I'm not sure if that was the number
it was just a guess based on looking at the stadium and it may have been a bit generous.

attendance for softball
attendance was better today, but still terrible, especially for a saturday game. I figured there’d be more little kids. The weather probably isn’t helping though.
softball plays nevada tomorrow (Sunday)
Nevada beat Purdue in the nightcap, so it’s a UCLA-Nevada rematch on Sunday (first game at 2:30 p.m.)
In case it wasn’t clear already, UCLA only has to win one game to advance—Nevada would have to beat the Bruins two games in a row to advance.
Women's Tennis
We play #6 Florida in the semis Monday, and if we win that either #5 Baylor or #8 Cal in the championship. Remarkably, none of the top four seeds reached the semifinals, so our seventh-seeded team has as good a chance as anyone left.
