Sunday Doubleheader: Softball (v Nevada) & Baseball (v WSU) Open Thread
We are going to stick with what has been working for us. Time for another double header (all purpose) open game thread featuring our softball and baseball (and tennis) teams.
As mentioned in our walk today the softball team will try to clinch a spot in the super regionals by taking care of Nevada today. Jelly, AK-47 and their team-mates will get started today at 2:30 pm PST at Easton :

Finally some action.
With 2 Outs:
Bottom of the 5th inning, UCLA scores off a base hit by Brent Dean, Gabe Cohen scored.
Alden Carrithers then singles to the middle and Tim Murphy scores.
That ends the inning. Bruins up 2-0 now at the top of the 6th inning.
Actually, GB has had a rough game.
He has walked so many batters and WSU has had bases loaded twice, if not for perfection (1 error) on the UCLA field, things could be different.
He has came through in tough situations though, but, it’s been am erratic pitching game to say the least.
He just got pulled out and Jason Novak (1-1, 3.55) is in after he walked a batter and allowed a base hit.
Yeah, sorry.
UCLA got things going well in the first inning getting 1 run.
We are currently in the bottom of the 2nd.
SB -- We are Down 2-1 in top of 3rd
Nev got a 2 out double that drove in 2 runs.
Selden seems to be struggling—like yesterday.
Hope she settles down.
She has such a great regular season ERA.
Still 2 outs they have a runner on 2nd. Gametracker is slow and frustrating, but better than nothing.
sjh
thanks for the update 66
hope we dont rely on the same heroics as yesterday. This is a feisty Nevada team.

Tennis
USC is giving UCLA doubles a run for their money.
UCLA is typically very dominant in doubles points but it’s been back and forth so far.
As of right now it looks like:
Doubles 1: SC leads 5-4
Doubles 2: SC leads 4-3
Doubles 3: Tied up 4-4
Their team on court 1 is really good. We need to step up and win this point

Yeah.
Just got double court three 8-6.
Now it’s down to Court 2 where we have a 6-5 advantage and as long as we exchange serves, we win.
Now we’re up 7-5… break point for match point – come on!
Baseball escapes with a 2-1 victory.
Full count, tie run on second base, leading run in first, pop fly to end the game.
UCLA sweeps Washington State is a crucial series to keep their playoffs hope alive.
outstanding!!
Hopefully, the same people who gave us those pre-season high rankings will think highly of our strength of schedule and slide us in. Thanks for the updates.

It complete their perfect 4-0 week despite playing teams ranked in the RPI’s top 30. You can read the official site’s recap if you want to know how today’s game went. I’ll be assessing the team’s regional chances and looking at the final week of the season in tonight’s post instead of a usual recap.

Wow
a great day for all the sports that played today it seemed, these updates were all great to read through…I wonder whos pitching for Georgia, I went to school with a girl who went there to play softball. Shes a freshman pither and outfielder named Taylor Schlopy and was all world last year at Oaks Christian, I’m not sure hows shes fared this year though..
O.A.
schlopy
She started in centerfield when we played Georgia earlier this season. She didn’t get a hit that game, but her offensive statistics look pretty good for the season as a whole. Pitching… she has an ERA of 6.90, so I don’t think we’ll be seeing her in the circle.
Looking forward to some rest followed by another great weekend of softball!
Oh thanks for that update
Yea Its so much more competitive when you move on to the next level, maybe she was a better batter than fielder at oaks but I remember her having some big pitching games at the Oaks…well shes a bulldog now, so I hope shes in a slump at least for one game : )
O.A.
