I'm not gonna lie, Carroll's recent venture into youtube is pretty cool in my book. Can't wait to see how the Neuheisel vs Carroll rivalry continues both on and off the internet.

Lame attempt at a "Jaywalking" segment
Right off the bat I noticed he seems to talk with a lisp. Anyone else catch that?
Then I started to see he’s just asking people, “Do you know who I am?”
What a tard.

I actually think this is cool ...
As much as I don’t care for Carroll, I appreciate this kind of effort on the part of Southern Cal to do outreach via New Media. In today’s world of college football media relations is a huge part of building the program. Carroll always mastered at it. And he has been greatly helped by an ultra aggressive and polished PR department from Heritage Hall.
Over at UCLA in addition to Howland we finally have a football coach who also gets the media game. It would be good for our program if out athletic department also enable both Neuheisel and Howland to reach out the community via the New Media in addition to the traditional media (which usually isn’t helpful to our cause anyway).
I am not saying Neuheisel and Howland needs to make a fool of themselves. But it might not be a bad idea to help them get their vision of our program in a polished way via tools such as YouTube etc.
Just something to think about.

exactly
If I’m a 16 year old high school football stud with a myspace page and a friend who happens to like USC posts this video up on my comments, I get to see the side of the coach that i probably couldn’t witness through standard recruitment. Nothing about that is NCAA illegal, and the net is too crazy to regulate to that extent.
Face it, nowadays, kids and parents are reading these blogs, subscribing to rivals & scout, watching youtube videos, befriending current players on facebook & myspace, etc. New media has all but completely taken over the college football & basketball landscape, and it affects recruitment, big time!
While coaches can still be great recruiters using the standard recruiting practices that have been in place for many years, it is definitely a good move at this point in time to embrace new media and take advantage of it.
Plus, UCLA invented the freaking internet, might as well use it.

Still,
saying, “The entrance requirements are really high, 1400 on your board scores 4.0 GPA” Come on! Or, maybe those were the combined scores of the entire basketball team?

I think you missed the point
The point wasn’t about Carroll’s asinine comments about Southern Cal’s “entrance requirements.” The point we were making was about how Carroll and the Trojan athletic program has been doing outreach via the new media. And this video is a pretty decent example of how a football coach in today’s world can use new media tools to connect with the university community. I thought it was cool. Nothing wrong with recognizing that.

Me too...
Like the rest of you, I feel a little dirty after actually sort of enjoying the Pete-walking video. Although he lost me at the entrance requirements, too.
GO BRUINS!
