Around SBN: Are The Orioles Bad Or Unlucky With Their Young Pitching?

Here is the latest interview from UCLAradio.com's Sports Department. This week we were able to catch up rising junior corner back Alterraun Verner and talk with him about spring ball, his thoughts on CRN, and his predictions on the summer and fall. At the end he even gave his thoughts on UCLA's latests National Championships. Sorry about the poor audio at the beginning, he must not have been in the best spot for cell phone service. Anyway, I hope you enjoy and GO BRUINS!!! (Bumped. GO BRUINS. -N)

Alterraun Verner- Library Campaign

I received a mailer this week looking to raise money for the UCLA Library. Verner is the featured student. There is apparently a long standing program with the athletic department, in which athletes can attend a seminar on library resources and strategies. Verner seems to have taken full advantage, as he made the Director’s Hone Roll twice in his first year, while earning freshman all-american honors. A great story, and another example of a student-athlete at Westwood.

Great Interviews

What a great interview, with what sounds like a real good guy. Did I hear right? He’s majoring in Applied Mathematics?! I loved it when he was talking about being a student and how much pride he had in the other programs, like water polo and tennis. He reminded me of how much fun it was hanging around campus, and how great it is to be a Bruin!

Also on that link was a pretty good interview with DC. I don’t know if that was already posted but it was nice to hear him talk about his committment to winning a national championship. I didn’t know he still stayed in the dorms. Talk about “keeping it real” as a student-athlete. What a good guy. We’re so lucky to have such solid citizens representing our school (unlike those from down the road).
