Interview with Darren Collison
Bumped. GO BRUINS. -N
Hey All. This is a link to an interview with Darren Collison. He joined the UCLAradio.com (UCLA's student radio station) Sports Department last night for 15 minutes or so. Some hot topics discussed were his thoughts on losing in the final 4, why he came back, and he upcoming season. He even gave his prediction on who liked in the NBA playoffs.

Thank You for That!
As a “Bruin In Exile,” I really miss out on this type of stuff.
How cool that his first reason for staying is that he made a promise.
This is one terrific young man.
Love My Bruins
Refreshing in Many Ways
What does he like most? Being a student at UCLA. No wonder he is staying, in spite of the pretty clear picture that he would be a first round pick.
I like the fact that he is embracing the new guards and thinks team before self. He is right, he won’t have to play as many minutes and that will be good for the team and DC’s game.
I was touched by the very respectful way in which he talked about AA2—about how AA2 deserves some love for all he has been through away from his family. It seems clear that AA2 is working out hard now; of course it’s possible he’s getting ready to play for his national team but I sure hope he comes back. He, like LMR, is the poster boy for the effort that CBH demands and both he and DC will be great role models for the youngsters.
I am so proud of DC, always have been, and all the good things I think about him are reinforced by this interview.

Aboya coming back???
DC seemed to speak in a way that strongly suggested that Aboya is coming back and is poised to have a break-out year. He wasn’t absolute but he sure sounded like Aboya was a lock to return. I sure hope he is right. We need him big time!
Missing Something
I can’t seem to find the link to the interview, Is there audio or a transcript? Sorry for the lapse into senile geezerhood and obliged for help.
aboya
1) When they asked DC who was gonna have a breakout year, I thought, “Now, the best thing to do here is say Aboya. You don’t single out a frosh, you hand it to the seniors. And everyone knows Aboya really works and deserves it.” And whattya know, he says Aboya. DC, you’re the man.
2) DC makes it sounds like aboya’s comin back. i think he will also. and i think DC comin back has a lot to do with it.
GO BRUINS!!!
What a great kid
I love DC, he just gets it. Great interview – everything he said made a lot of sense. He realizes the NBA will be there and once you leave the college experience it’s gone. You can come back and take classes, but it just isn’t the same. For most people that attend college, it is the best years of their lives. I can almost guarantee even the guys that make it to the pro ranks, the best years of their lives will have been in college – those who leave early are short-changing themselves.
Some points that I inferred from his interview;
1) AA2 is coming back – I’m sure this made his decision much easier
2) DC is ready to be the undisputed leader of this team
3) DC bleeds bruin blue
4) CBH is a great coach to play for (we knew this from a fan perspective)
DC will have a great year and coupled with a relatively weaker draft class – he’ll be in the lottery for 2009 – I hope he’s in the top 5.
PS if Morgan comes in we could have our own Fab 5
DC--one great kid
DC is a veteran and star on a high profile team. He would have been a first round pick but chose to stay for another Final Four run. He can live where he wants to live but chooses to live in the campus dorms because he loves being with students. Most kids can’t stand the dorms and want their own apt. Darren is special. His parents taught him the right values. DC is gonna have a special place in Bruin history when he is done.
An example
DC is an example of what a student athlete should be. Not only does he have a great head on his shoulders, he also has a commitment and devotion that any coach would want in a player. DC is a champion. I hope our new team will follow his example and rally behind him to send him off the right way.
I second that !
It’s difficult to find athletes the caliber of Collison these days, with such winning combination of character, devotion & talents.
Thank you, and thank you again, DC !
